AMD

AMD is an American semiconductor company founded in 1969 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California, that designs processors, graphics chips and adaptive computing hardware without owning fabrication plants. Its Ryzen and Threadripper processors and Radeon graphics serve consumers and creators, EPYC server chips have taken a large share of the data centre market from Intel, and the Instinct accelerators compete for AI training and inference workloads. The 2022 acquisition of Xilinx added field-programmable gate arrays and adaptive systems on chip, and the company also supplies the custom silicon inside the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

THE ROLE

AMD is seeking a Senior Director of Developer Integrated Marketing to lead the global marketing strategy and programs that acquire, activate, educate and engage developers across AMD’s growing AI ecosystem.

Reporting to the Global Head of Developer Marketing, this is a highly visible leadership role at the intersection of AI, software, developer experience and marketing.

This leader will lead an integrated global team responsible for translating AMD’s technology and business priorities into developer-first campaigns, experiences and programs that accelerate adoption of AMD AI platforms.

The role will own the integrated developer marketing engine across the developer journey, from awareness and acquisition through hands-on experience, education, community engagement and platform adoption.

This leader will work closely across AMD Marketing, Developer Relations, AI and software engineering, product and business teams, regional marketing, communications and strategic ecosystem partners to create one coordinated approach to developer growth.

THE PERSON:

You are a strategic, modern marketing leader who understands developers as both a technical audience and a critical driver of technology adoption.

You combine strategic thinking with a strong focus on execution. You know how to build an integrated marketing engine across campaigns, content and editorial, digital, events, education, community, social, paid and earned media, and ecosystem partnerships while maintaining a clear focus on measurable business outcomes.

You are comfortable operating in a highly technical environment and can translate complex AI, software and hardware technologies into compelling developer experiences and marketing programs.

You are equally comfortable setting strategy with senior executives, working with engineering and Developer Relations teams, continuously improving how marketing engages and supports developers, and getting close enough to execution to ensure the work delivers.

You thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, make clear tradeoffs and build alignment across complex organizations. You develop strong teams and leaders, create clarity around priorities, and know how to scale through others.

Above all, you are passionate about developers and understand that earning developer trust requires authenticity, technical credibility, useful experiences and a relentless focus on reducing friction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own AMD’s global Developer Integrated Marketing strategy, translating company, AI, software and product priorities into a unified developer marketing plan.

  • Lead the integrated developer journey across acquisition, activation, education, community and ecosystem engagement, with a focus on accelerating AMD AI platform adoption.

  • Build an integrated operating model across campaigns, editorial, events, education, social, community, paid, earned and ecosystem marketing, ensuring developer programs operate as one connected marketing engine rather than a collection of independent activities.

  • Build and scale programs that create meaningful hands-on developer experiences across AMD technologies, including AI Dev Days, hackathons, developer cloud experiences, workshops, product experiences and other technical activations.

  • Drive global developer acquisition and lifecycle marketing, growing high-quality developer audiences across priority segments and markets and moving them from awareness through activation and sustained engagement.

  • Partner closely with Developer Relations and engineering to connect technical enablement with scalable marketing programs, ensuring developers have clear paths from discovery to building.
  • Scale AMD’s developer education and enablement ecosystem through programs including AI Academy, learning experiences, certifications, playbooks and other technical content.

  • Lead Integrated Editorial for Developer Marketing, creating a cohesive editorial strategy and operating model across AMD's technical audience channels. Partner across Developer Relations, Product Marketing, Communications, Social, Engineering and other content owners to create a coordinated editorial calendar, prioritize the stories that matter most to developers, and ensure content is technically credible, audience-relevant and connected to measurable developer outcomes.
  • Build an audience-first developer content and editorial strategy across AMD.com, social, community, video, earned, paid and emerging channels, using developer insights, performance data and AI to continually improve relevance, discoverability, engagement and developer experience.

  • Develop integrated programs with strategic ecosystem partners, open-source communities, frameworks, startups, universities and developer influencers to extend AMD’s reach and credibility.

  • Lead AMD’s developer events marketing strategy, ensuring global and regional activations are connected to clear audience, adoption and business objectives rather than operating as standalone events.

  • Lead and optimize AMD’s third-party agency ecosystem supporting Developer Marketing, including agency strategy, scopes of work, budget management, performance measurement and ongoing evaluation. Ensure agency partners operate as an extension of the AMD team, with clear accountability for outcomes, strong integration across programs and disciplined management of marketing investment.

  • Establish clear measurement across the developer journey, including hands-on experiences, developer acquisition, activation, education, community growth, platform engagement and adoption.

  • Use data to continually optimize investment, audience prioritization, channel mix and program performance.

  • Lead annual and long-range planning for Developer Integrated Marketing, including strategy, organizational capability, investment priorities, agency resources and measurement.

  • Build and lead a high-performing global team across integrated campaigns, events, editorial and content, social, digital, paid media, ecosystem programs and developer experiences.

  • Develop leaders within the organization and create an operating model that drives clear ownership, accountability, prioritization and execution at scale.

  • Serve as a senior marketing partner across AMD, working closely with executives and leaders across Marketing, AI, Developer Relations, Engineering, Product, Sales and regional organizations.

  • Champion an outside-in, developer-first perspective across AMD, bringing developer insights into marketing strategy, product launches, experiences and company priorities.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Significant senior leadership experience in developer marketing, technology marketing, integrated marketing, developer relations, product marketing or a closely related field.

  • Demonstrated experience building and leading global, multi-disciplinary marketing teams.

  • Deep understanding of developer audiences, developer ecosystems and the ways developers discover, evaluate, learn and adopt technology platforms.

  • Strong understanding of AI and modern software ecosystems. Experience marketing AI infrastructure, developer platforms, cloud services, semiconductors, software platforms or other highly technical products is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to build integrated global marketing strategies spanning digital, content, lifecycle, paid media, events, community, social, education and ecosystem partnerships.
  • Experience leading integrated editorial and content operations across multiple teams, channels and stakeholders, ideally for technical or developer audiences.

  • Experience creating developer programs that drive measurable activation, usage or platform adoption rather than awareness alone.

  • Strong analytical orientation with experience establishing KPIs, measurement frameworks and investment models tied to business outcomes.

  • Significant experience managing external agencies, including agency selection, SOW development, budget management, performance accountability and optimization.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across engineering, product, Developer Relations, sales, communications and marketing organizations.

  • Experience working with developer communities, open-source ecosystems, startups, universities, AI frameworks, cloud providers or technology partners is highly desirable.

  • Strong executive communication and influencing skills with the ability to create alignment across complex global organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment, make tradeoffs, prioritize aggressively and translate strategy into execution.

  • Experience using AI and emerging marketing technologies to improve audience insight, content creation, developer experience, measurement and marketing productivity.

  • Demonstrated success attracting, developing and retaining high-performing teams.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • MBA or other advanced degree is preferred but not required.
  • Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.

LOCATION

  • Austin, TX
  • May also be considered in Santa Clara, CA
