American Express is a New York financial services company founded in 1850 as an express freight business that became a payments network and card issuer. Unlike the four-party networks it competes with, it issues most of its own cards and operates its own network, which lets it earn merchant discount revenue as well as interest and annual fees, and supports a premium rewards proposition built on travel and lounge access. Its business spans consumer and small business cards, corporate payments, merchant acquiring and travel services, and it is a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

Candidates are expected to reside within a reasonable commuting distance (typically 25-35 miles) of Denver, CO.

Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) is the merchant network of American Express that acquires and maintains relationships with millions of merchants around the world who welcome American Express-branded Cards. The Merchant Acquisition and Supplier Enablement (MASE) team within GMNS is a nationwide organization comprised of over 160 professionals dedicated to signing and enabling U.S. merchants for AXP Card acceptance.

The Manager of Business Development (MBD) is a direct sales position on the District Sales team within Merchant Acquisition. This position will focus on high value prospects that have an annual sales revenue up to $10B within B2B verticals and segments that do not currently accept the Card as a form of payment. This role will also work closely with our Global Commercial Services (GCS) and the Regional Centralized Client Management teams to expand B2B coverage, drive charge volume, and a focus on Welcomed Acceptance. The successful candidate will use his/ her in-depth knowledge of American Express and target industries to partner with prospects and internal stakeholders across the blue box to devise and implement innovative deal constructs to unlock previously untapped opportunities.

This position is assigned to a geographic sales territory. To ensure effective client coverage and business continuity, colleagues are expected to reside within a reasonable commuting distance (typically 25-35 miles) of an approved primary or secondary metropolitan area associated with the territory. Residency and territory alignment may be reviewed periodically based on business needs, market coverage requirements, and territory assignments.

The colleague is expected to regularly travel throughout the territory to conduct in-person client meetings, prospecting activities, and relationship management. Residence location must support efficient and consistent coverage of the assigned market and will be considered as part of the selection and placement process.
