$22-$25/hour, depending on experience

Amity Foundation is hiring a Career Coach to provide direct casework services to participants in the Department of Labor (DOL) Pathway Home program, including intake, needs assessments, individualized case management planning, and progress monitoring.

You will be working with participants to ensure they are building upon core competencies like workforce development soft skills, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care, while helping them move toward employment, education, and long-term stability.

What You Will Do

Participant Coaching & Mentoring

• Serve as a mentor to participants, providing weekly one-on-one and small group sessions on problem-solving, coping strategies, and résumé building.
• Work with participants on core competencies including workforce development soft skills, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care.
• Conduct initial intake and needs assessments for all participants assigned to caseload.
• Prepare, review, and update Individual Development Plans (IDPs), ensuring goals and objectives are based on assessment results.
• Assist participants with applying for full-time employment after paid work experience concludes, and support college or university enrollment and financial aid applications.
• Develop discharge and post-completion plans aligned with each participant's IDP.

Program & Partner Coordination

• Develop and monitor participant progress relative to their IDP throughout all phases of the program and confer regularly with key internal and external stakeholders on progress and transition planning.
• Maintain collaborative relationships, consistent communication, and referral programs with all outside agencies through effective communication with the Program Coordinator, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), and participants.

Documentation & Administration

• Maintain timely, accurate participant records, including case notes, employment status, referrals, conferences, and required IDP elements.
• Enter and maintain participant data in online case management systems, such as Apricot, in accordance with program requirements.
• Provide data and case insights to stakeholders and executive teams.
• Attend required meetings, workshops, and training.

What We Are Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in social sciences or a related field - OR
• A High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience working with criminal justice or related populations.
• Valid California driver's license and eligibility for Amity vehicle insurance.

Preferred:

• Experience counseling justice-involved individuals in a prison or similar setting.

This role blends mentoring, casework, and administration. Therefore, the candidate should have:

• Understanding the causes, symptoms, and effects of long-term incarceration, with appreciation for how it affects behavior, psychology, and social wellbeing.
• Recognition of how personality, culture, lifestyle, and social network shape individual behavior.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across a wide range of constituencies.
• Strong case and project management skills, with the ability to maintain confidential information.
• Operational knowledge of MS Office.

Certifications & Conditions of Employment

• When offered the position, candidates will be required to complete First Aid and CPR certification, along with a physical examination and tuberculosis clearance, before confirmation.
