About the role
The Analysis Intern will have the opportunity to gain and apply knowledge of fundamental analysis in oil trading, in supporting the Analysis team in the development of market analytics for Trading and Shipping.
The Analysis Intern will assist the Commercial Analysts with research work, production of regular reports, data collection, data cleaning and improvement of supply and demand fundamentals data used. The Analysis Intern will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the commercial analysts, app developers, data scientists and data engineers to automate data ingestion, and build out analytical tools/models and visualization dashboards.
This is an exciting opportunity for a full-time, paid 6-month internship starting in December 2026 or January 2027. We’re looking for curious, committed individuals ready to dive in and make the most of the experience-so please apply only if you’re available for the full duration.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on refineries globally in order to build a database of global refining capacities.
- Update and maintain data on refinery outages.
- Support Commercial Analysts with research and ship tracking pertaining to crude or specified product balances.
- Produce regular reports on country statistics, ship tracking, price charts and support the production of the weekly market report.
- Improve BAU processes through automation, developing models/algorithms and utilization of data visualisation tools.
- Collaborate with analysts and traders in any relevant analysis involving any form of market research and data.
- Support the delivery of the Data Analytics Project.
Qualifications & Experience
- Undergraduates (Computing, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business)
- Experience in automation and process improvement is desirable
- Keen interest in understanding the dynamics of oil trading and refining
- Sound knowledge of visualisation tools (e.g PowerBI) will be an advantage
- Ability to code in VBA / R / Python / SQL will be an advantage
- Knowledge of Dataiku and Snowflake will be an advantage
- Self-starter with a drive for results and able to work independently
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to engage stakeholders
