Billing Specialist
How You'll Help Us Connect the World
As a Billing Specialist, you will support end-to-end Order-to-Cash activities, with a strong focus on billing accuracy, accounts receivable management, and cash forecasting. You will work closely with Invoicing, Customer Service, Sales, and Finance teams to resolve billing issues, optimize cash flow, and drive process standardization across the organization.
In this role, you will also support credit and collections activities for an assigned customer portfolio, ensure compliance with European invoicing requirements, and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives. This role is hybrid, with 3 days a week required onsite in our Madrid office.
You Will Make an Impact By
Managing billing activities to ensure accurate, timely invoice processing and compliance with local electronic invoicing and statutory reporting requirements across Europe.
Monitoring invoice transmission, identifying discrepancies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve billing issues and prevent invoice delivery failures.
Tracking and reporting billing status using data from internal ERP systems and customer portals.
Performing structured collections follow-ups with customers to ensure timely payments in accordance with contractual terms.
Monitoring accounts receivable (AR), analyzing aging reports, managing delinquencies, and identifying potential collection risks.
Reviewing and managing customer order releases for an assigned portfolio.
Partnering with Sales, Customer Service, and Finance teams to resolve payment disputes and collection-related issues.
Supporting cash forecasting by providing accurate AR data, payment expectations, and collection trends.
Overseeing cash application activities to support accurate financial reporting and account reconciliation.
Developing, documenting, and improving standard operating procedures (SOPs) to increase efficiency and consistency in billing and Order-to-Cash processes.
Participating in stakeholder discussions, recommending corrective actions, and escalating AR-related risks as needed.
Supporting the Senior Manager, Credit & Collections, with process improvement initiatives and providing operational support across the Credit department as needed.
Required Qualifications for Consideration
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in billing, finance, credit, collections, or Order-to-Cash functions, including significant hands-on billing experience.
Demonstrated experience managing billing processes within a multinational organization.
Working knowledge of invoicing regulations, tax requirements, and electronic invoicing processes.
Experience with customer invoicing portals and electronic invoicing platforms, such as Adquira, Ariba, or Coupa.
Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage large volumes of financial data, prioritize competing demands, and collaborate effectively across functions.
Proactive, team-oriented approach with strong communication skills.
Fluency in English.
You Will Excite Us If You Have
Professional certification in process improvement, credit management, or a related discipline.
Experience working in an SAP Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment and collaborating with technical EDI stakeholders.
Experience identifying and implementing improvements to billing, collections, or Order-to-Cash processes.
Fluency in Spanish.
