About the Role
For the past five years, AngelList has been known for one thing: helping people start and operate venture funds. That’s changed in the past year. We’ve been building new banking, payments, wealth, and asset management business across multiple new brands, and are looking for a Product Design Lead who will help them grow into a coherent ecosystem.
You will be responsible for driving product design across each business, helping teams iterate toward products that win their markets. At the same time, many of our customers will use more than one part of AngelList over the course of their financial lives. An investor may first come to us to invest in a fund, later use another product to manage their assets, and eventually start a fund of their own.
The opportunity in this role is to do both: build excellent products within each division and also define the connective tissue across them. As part of this, you will build and lead the design team, raise the quality bar across our products, and establish the principles, systems, and discovery practices that will enable AngelList to becoming the leading financial institution for private markets.
Responsibilities
- Operate as a player-coach on a lean design team, partnering with cross-functional teams to build thoughtful product experiences, and recruiting, leading and developing a small team of elite designers.
- Elevate AngelList’s capacity for high-quality interaction and visual design, crafting elegant, intuitive experiences across complex financial systems
- Deeply understand the range of AngelList customers, and use research and insights to clarify problems and deliver great design solutions
You might be a good fit if you:
- Have 8+ years as Product Designer, and 2+ years in a formal management role, with specific experience working in complex domains with interconnected brand dynamics
- Are a systems thinker with strong interaction and visual design skills, hold a high bar for craft and quality, and enjoy mentoring and developing other designers to do the same
- Understand that deep thinking, clear product vision, and customer obsession are some of the most important things designers bring to a team
- Enjoy collaborating on tight-knit cross-functional teams, and orienting problem-solving dynamics to yield ambitious outcomes
