About the Role

As Supervisor, Mechanical – Processing Plant, you will supervise mechanical maintenance activities, coordinate maintenance resources, support project delivery, and ensure plant equipment performs safely and reliably.

You will lead maintenance teams, coordinate contractors, manage maintenance and repair activities, monitor project progress, and implement proactive maintenance strategies that support production targets.

You will also work closely with technical, operational, commercial, and management teams to resolve engineering challenges and continuously improve plant performance.

• Plan and coordinate preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities.

• Ensure mechanical equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently.

• Re-prioritise planned activities when operational conditions change.

• Evaluate maintenance progress and address delays promptly.

• Ensure maintenance work meets required technical and quality standards.

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and outstanding work.

• Manage Maintenance and Repair Contracts (MARC) in accordance with contractual requirements.

• Coordinate contractors and third-party service providers working within the processing plant.

• Monitor contractor performance, work quality, productivity, safety, and compliance.

• Ensure contractors meet agreed schedules, specifications, and performance standards.

• Support contract reviews, performance evaluations, and commercial discussions.

• Work with relevant stakeholders to resolve contractor-related technical and operational issues.

• Promote transparent, commercially sound, and professional contractor relationships.

• Support and supervise mechanical projects within the processing plant.

• Contribute to project planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and execution.

• Monitor project progress against agreed scope, cost, quality, and timelines.

• Identify project risks and implement appropriate corrective actions.

• Coordinate with project teams, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.

• Ensure completed projects meet required engineering and operational standards.

• Support project commissioning, handover, and close-out activities.

• Identify opportunities to improve project delivery through practical engineering solutions.

• Use the SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM) module to support maintenance planning and execution.

• Ensure maintenance activities and work orders receive accurate and timely updates.

• Monitor outstanding work orders and maintenance backlogs.

• Maintain accurate equipment and maintenance information.

• Use available maintenance data to identify trends and improve equipment performance.

• Support the effective use of maintenance management systems across the team.

• Promote a strong safety culture across all mechanical maintenance activities.

• Ensure teams follow applicable safety procedures, engineering standards, and company requirements.

• Apply AngloGold Ashanti standards and good engineering practices consistently.

• Ensure maintenance and project activities comply with applicable mining regulations and legal requirements.

• Consider OEM requirements, technical specifications, and contractual obligations when executing maintenance work.

• Identify unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action.

• Promote disciplined risk assessment and safe work practices.

• Lead, coach, and motivate mechanical maintenance personnel.

• Delegate responsibilities according to employee skills, workload, and operational priorities.

• Assign personnel to appropriate maintenance and project activities.

• Monitor individual and team performance against agreed objectives.

• Build a capable, accountable, and collaborative maintenance team.

• Develop employees through coaching, feedback, knowledge sharing, and practical guidance.

• Support procurement and contract-related activities as required.

• Prepare and submit accurate maintenance and project reports.

• Provide management with timely updates on maintenance performance, risks, project progress, and resource requirements.

• Communicate technical issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Participate in operational, maintenance, project, and contractor meetings.

• Maintain effective communication with production, engineering, management, contractors, and other stakeholders.

• Escalate critical technical, safety, commercial, and operational issues promptly.

Qualifications & Education

Candidates should meet one of the following qualification pathways:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience; or

• Diploma in Engineering such as Mechanical, Electrical, Maintenance, or a related discipline, in accordance with applicable requirements under Regulations 51 and 54 of LI 2182, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or

• Technician Part III Certificate with at least 5 years of experience in engineering operations.

• A Master’s degree in Management, Engineering Management, Project Management, or a related field will be an advantage.

• Additional training or professional development in financial, commercial, contract, or project management will be advantageous.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in engineering roles, including relevant supervisory experience.

• Demonstrated experience in mechanical maintenance within a mining, mineral-processing, extractive-metallurgy, or industrial-processing environment.

• Proven experience managing Maintenance and Repair Contracts (MARC).

• Practical experience in project management and project delivery.

• Experience using SAP PM or a comparable computerised maintenance management system.

• Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams and contractors will be an advantage.

• Experience working within a production-oriented processing environment will be beneficial.
