Advanced Engineer Software (Analytics)

This individual contributor role has hands-on engineering responsibilities and senior technical ownership within the Supply Chain Intelligence and Inventory Visibility portfolio. The engineer will work closely with the Sr. Technology Director, product owners, architects, peer developers, business stakeholders, security, infrastructure, data engineering, BI, and distributed delivery teams to deliver reliable solutions for Retail Operations and Supply Chain business functions. The role supports a broad engineering footprint that includes data pipelines, data platforms, reusable APIs, full-stack user experiences, GenAI and agentic workflow solutions, monitoring, cloud cost optimisation, production stability, release support, and cross-team enablement.

Responsibilities:

• Hands-on technical leadership: Provide senior engineering guidance for architecture, design, development, deployment, monitoring, and production support of
• Supply Chain Intelligence and Inventory Visibility solutions.
• Platform ownership: Support and enhance platforms such as IMPACT, mVIEW, PI data services, Nexus, BOL/GenAI document extraction, barcode scanning capabilities, and enterprise reporting/data integrations.
• Software engineering: Design, build, and maintain batch, micro-batch, streaming, and event-driven processes for high-volume supply chain, inventory, transportation, merchandising, warehouse, store, and enterprise datasets.
• APIs and microservices: Build reusable APIs, backend services, and integration patterns that expose inventory and supply chain data to applications, dashboards, analytics, eCommerce, BI, Data Science, In-Stock, Catalogue, ROAR, HERO, Smart Markdown, and other enterprise consumers.
• Full-stack development: Develop and support modern web applications, user workflows, admin screens, operational dashboards, barcode scanning experiences, alert interfaces, and reporting integrations with strong usability and performance.
• AI and automation: Design and deliver GenAI, RAG, document extraction, and agentic workflow solutions that improve productivity, automate manual processes, and unlock data from structured, semi-structured, and unstructured sources.
• Reliability and observability: Implement monitoring, Grafana dashboards, email alerts, logs, runbooks, data lineage, UI-to-API-to-data mappings, RCA tracking, and proactive support processes for critical data and application platforms.
• Cloud optimisation: Improve cost, latency, scalability, and performance through BigQuery optimisation, compute right-sizing, caching, Dataflow/DAG tuning, data retention policies, API reuse, and pragmatic architecture decisions.
• Enterprise standards: Develop and deploy applications using company software design, security, DevOps, infrastructure, API gateway, network, access, and production readiness standards.
• Modernisation and migrations: Support upgrades and transitions across cloud platforms, orchestration tools, source systems, API management, Kafka integrations,
• Dataflow SDKs, Composer/Airflow versions, and enterprise data platforms.
• Collaboration and mentorship: Partner with business, product, architecture, security, infrastructure, analytics, and distributed engineering teams while mentoring engineers, contractors, and analysts through design reviews, troubleshooting, onboarding, and knowledge transfer.
• Leadership communication: Develop technical documentation, operational plans, architecture diagrams, recommendations, status updates, and leadership-facing presentations as needed.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in math/functional software engineering, cloud application development, platform engineering, or supply chain technology.
• Experience supporting supply chain, inventory, retail operations, merchandising, warehouse, transportation, replenishment, store operations, eCommerce, or enterprise operational data domains.
• Strong experience designing, building, and supporting production-grade analytical transformations, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications.
• Backend development experience using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Python, FastAPI, REST APIs, GraphQL, or similar technologies.
• Hands-on experience with cloud and analytics technologies such as GCP, BigQuery, Dataflow, Kafka, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, GCS, SQL, or similar tools.
• Frontend development experience using React, Angular, Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, or comparable modern web technologies.
• Experience with databases and analytics platforms such as BigQuery, SQL Server, MongoDB, MySQL, DB2 Azure SQL, Power BI, Looker, or similar tools.
• Experience with messaging, event streaming, and integration patterns using Kafka, MQ, Pub/Sub, API gateways, RESTful APIs, ETL/ELT, or similar technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, containers, monitoring, and deployment tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, GKE, AKS, Maven, SonarQube, Grafana, or equivalent tooling.
• Understanding of secure enterprise deployment patterns, including load balancers, APIM, network approvals, firewalls, certificates, service accounts, role-based access, external access patterns, and production readiness reviews.
• Strong ability to analyse complex issues where data, systems, business processes, and technical dependencies require in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Result-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently, lead through ambiguity, collaborate in Agile teams, and support production systems when issues arise.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Inventory Visibility, Perpetual Inventory, Supply Chain Intelligence, Control Tower, Cost-to-Serve, Transportation, Warehouse, Replenishment, Merchandising, Retail BI, or enterprise inventory data consumption platforms.
• Experience building GenAI solutions such as document extraction, RAG assistants, LLM orchestration, AI agents, prompt workflows, Vertex AI/Gemini applications,
• LangChain/LangGraph workflows, Google ADK, A2A protocol, or conversational assistants.
• Experience modernising legacy systems, migrating pipelines or source systems, upgrading orchestration platforms, and reducing latency for high-volume data flows.
• Experience designing reusable enterprise data/API consumption patterns for multiple downstream applications, dashboards, and analytics consumers.
• Experience optimising cloud spend, query performance, application latency, data freshness, monitoring coverage, and production uptime.
• Experience mentoring engineers, contractors, and analysts across onshore, offshore, and nearshore teams.
