Lead Data Engineer / Consultant
We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer / Consultant to join a strategic data transformation programme within the global banking sector. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale, enterprise-grade data platforms while leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineering teams.
Location: Kraków (hybrid work model - 2 days per week from the Kraków office)

Responsibilities
Design, build and deliver scalable data engineering solutions in enterprise environments.
Lead the development and optimization of ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration frameworks.
Work extensively with Hadoop, Spark and Splunk ecosystems.
Develop robust data processing solutions using Python.
Manage the full lifecycle of data ingestion, transformation and delivery.
Handle raw, structured, semi-structured and unstructured data across SQL and NoSQL platforms.
Collaborate closely with BI, Analytics and business stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and source control best practices.
Ensure high standards of service resilience, sustainability and governance within data engineering solutions.
Lead technical projects and provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to junior engineers.
Drive quality through unit testing, integration testing and automated testing frameworks.
Identify, analyze and solve complex data challenges in fast-paced environments.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Lead Data Engineer, Data Engineering Consultant or similar role.
Strong hands-on experience with Hadoop, Spark and Splunk.
Advanced Python skills with experience in ETL pipeline development.
Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL technologies.
Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale data platforms and ingestion frameworks.
Strong understanding of data modeling and data architecture principles.
Experience with CI/CD practices and version control systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple technical initiatives and stakeholders simultaneously.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) will be an advantage.
Understanding of risk management, compliance and governance in engineering processes.
