Data Architect

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our Engineering EZL team in Bengaluru. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable, cloud-ready data architectures that support enterprise applications and business intelligence initiatives. This role requires a strong technical foundation in database architecture, cloud technologies, data engineering, and performance optimisation, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to understand current systems, business processes, and strategic objectives to design robust and scalable database architectures.
• Assess existing applications and database environments, identify opportunities for optimisation, and recommend effective architectural improvements.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to ensure data platforms remain scalable, secure, and aligned with evolving business requirements.
• Partner closely with software development teams, architects, and third-party vendors throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Define and lead enterprise data pipeline architecture strategies in collaboration with business and engineering teams.
• Conduct architecture, design, and code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and organisational standards.
• Monitor database performance, analyse operational metrics, and implement optimisation strategies to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Mentor and guide database engineers on database design, architecture, and performance optimisation techniques.
• Participate in technology evaluations, proofs-of-concept, security reviews, compliance initiatives, and internal audits.
• Effectively manage and prioritise multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high-quality delivery standards.

Requirements:

• Extensive expertise in SQL, data modelling, and database performance tuning.
• Proven experience designing and building large-scale, cloud-ready, highly scalable, and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of relational, NoSQL, and columnar database architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or later versions.
• Experience using database performance monitoring and optimisation tools such as SQL Compass and SolarWinds.
• Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, BigQuery, and Looker, is preferred.
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow orchestration tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Dataflow.
• Familiarity with reporting and analytics platforms, including SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Looker.
• Strong understanding of modern information security principles, database security, and industry best practices.
• Demonstrated passion for delivering high-quality, reliable, and scalable technical solutions.
• Proven ability to work effectively within Agile development environments and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in database architecture, database administration, and performance optimisation.
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across multiple business functions and varying levels of technical expertise.
• Strong track record of designing and delivering high-performance, highly available, and scalable enterprise systems.
• Experience architecting enterprise-grade, cloud-native data platforms and data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of both structured and unstructured data management.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (B. E. /B. Tech. /M. Tech. /MCA or equivalent).
• Overall professional experience of 12+ years in database architecture, data engineering, or related domains.
