We are currently recruiting for a talented and experienced Head Chef to join our team at Hutchesons' Grammar School, Glasgow, G41 4NW. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a school catering operation, delivering high-quality, nutritious meals while managing a kitchen team and ensuring the highest standards of food safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

What you'll be doing

• Leading the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and catering team
• Preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality meals to pupils and staff
• Managing food production to ensure consistency, quality, and presentation standards are maintained
• Ensuring all food safety, allergen, dietary, and health & safety procedures are followed
• Managing due diligence records and ensuring all documentation is completed accurately
• Overseeing stock control, ordering, deliveries, and stock rotation
• Training, supervising, and motivating kitchen team members
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and kitchen organisation
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and school requirements
• Supporting continuous improvement of food service delivery and customer satisfaction

• Previous experience in a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or senior catering role
• Strong knowledge of food safety, allergen management, and dietary requirements
• Sound understanding of health & safety legislation and best practice
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Experience managing kitchen compliance and due diligence systems
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a busy catering environment
• Passion for producing high-quality food and delivering outstanding service

• Successful candidates will be required to obtain a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups)
• DBS checks required
