1. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
A. Strategic Leadership of BCIS Active
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the BCIS Active Sports Academies programme.
- Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the BCIS Football Academy in all its iterations.
- Provide leadership for all existing and future Sports Academies within the BCIS Active programme.
- Identify opportunities to develop and expand the Sports Academies portfolio in response to student interests, community demand and the strategic direction of BCIS.
- Work collaboratively with school leadership to ensure that BCIS Active supports the wider vision, values and strategic priorities of the school.
- Promote a culture of excellence, professionalism, inclusion and continuous improvement across all Sports Academies.
B. Academy Operations and Delivery
- Coordinate the effective operation of the Sports Academies programme.
- Establish and maintain high standards of programme delivery across all academies.
- Ensure consistency in the quality and student experience across different Sports Academies.
- Coordinate academy activities with the BCIS academic calendar and operational requirements of the school.
- Work with relevant school personnel to ensure effective use of facilities and resources.
- Monitor the effectiveness of academy provision and make recommendations for improvement where required.
C. Leadership and Management of Coaches
- Provide line management, support and professional coordination for all Sports Academy coaches.
- Lead and facilitate team meetings and professional discussions as required.
- Establish clear expectations regarding professional conduct, quality of delivery and student experience.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of coaching provision.
- Support coaches in identifying areas for development and improvement.
- Contribute to and lead appropriate professional development activities.
- Ensure that coaches operate in accordance with BCIS safeguarding requirements, policies and professional standards.
The service agreement specifically identifies line management and coordination of football academy coaches, together with line management of all current and future Sports Academies, as core responsibilities.
D. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
- Monitor the quality and consistency of Sports Academy provision.
- Ensure academy programmes operate in alignment with international school standards and ISP expectations.
- Establish appropriate processes for reviewing the quality and effectiveness of academy activities.
- Gather and respond to feedback from students, parents, coaches and school leadership where appropriate.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate actions.
- Collaborate with school leadership to support the continuous improvement of Sports Academies.
- Conduct internal reviews of academy provision as required.
E. Safeguarding and Student Welfare
- Ensure that safeguarding and child protection are central to all Sports Academy activities.
- Comply fully with BCIS safeguarding, child protection and safer recruitment policies.
- Ensure appropriate professional boundaries are maintained by all academy personnel.
- Support safeguarding documentation, inspections and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure that coaches and academy personnel provide a safe, respectful and appropriate environment for students.
- Provide required compliance documentation, including background checks and police clearance certificates where requested.
- Immediately raise any safeguarding concern or significant student welfare issue through the appropriate BCIS channels.
Safeguarding is a specific contractual requirement, with the agreement requiring compliance with BCIS and ISP standards and permitting immediate termination in the event of serious safeguarding or conduct concerns.
F. Financial Management
- Take responsibility for monitoring the financial performance of all Sports Academies.
- Prepare and provide monthly financial P&L reporting for the Sports Academies.
- Monitor academy income, expenditure and overall financial performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve the financial sustainability and efficiency of academy provision.
- Work with school leadership to understand financial performance and agree appropriate actions where required.
- Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely and transparent.
Monthly reporting on progress, achievements and financial P&L for all Sports Academies is expressly included within the service agreement.
G. Communication and Stakeholder Relationships
- Maintain effective professional relationships with BCIS leadership, students, parents, coaches and relevant external stakeholders.
- Represent the Sports Academies programme professionally in interactions with students, parents and the wider community.
- Communicate programme developments, achievements, challenges and opportunities clearly to school leadership.
- Support the positive reputation and profile of BCIS Active within the school and wider community.
- Ensure that communications relating to BCIS remain consistent with school expectations and policies.
H. Reporting to School Leadership
The Director will coordinate with the Executive Principal for:
- Service alignment.
- Clarification of requirements.
- Reporting on progress and achievements.
- Discussion of operational and strategic priorities.
- Review of Sports Academy development.
- Financial performance and P&L.
- Significant safeguarding, quality or compliance matters.
The service agreement specifies that coordination with the Executive Principal is for service alignment, clarification of requirements and reporting of progress, while retaining the Service Provider's professional discretion over the manner and method in which services are delivered.
2. EXPECTED OUTCOMES
The Director of Sports Academies will be expected to ensure that:
BCIS Active operates as a professionally managed Sports Academy programme. The BCIS Football Academy is effectively implemented and continuously developed. Current and future Sports Academies are effectively led and coordinated. Students receive a consistently high-quality sporting experience. Coaches are appropriately supported, coordinated and professionally developed. Safeguarding and child protection standards are consistently maintained. Academy provision is aligned with BCIS policies and ISP expectations. Sports Academy activities demonstrate continuous improvement. Monthly reporting provides clear visibility of programme progress, achievements and financial P&L. The Sports Academies programme operates in a financially sustainable manner.

Programme Development
- Successful implementation and development of the BCIS Football Academy.
- Growth and effective development of current and future Sports Academies.
- Quality and consistency of academy provision.
Student Experience
- Quality of student participation and experience.
- Student engagement and satisfaction.
- Positive feedback from students and parents.
Coaching
- Effective management and coordination of coaches.
- Quality of coaching delivery.
- Completion of appropriate professional development and team meetings.
Safeguarding and Compliance
- Full compliance with BCIS safeguarding and child protection requirements.
- Appropriate documentation and compliance processes.
- No avoidable breaches of BCIS policies or professional standards.
Financial Performance
- Timely and accurate monthly P&L reporting.
- Effective management of academy financial performance.
- Progress towards agreed financial objectives.
Reporting and Communication
- Timely monthly reporting.
- Clear identification of achievements, risks and areas requiring improvement.
- Effective communication with school leadership.
4. PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS AND CONDUCT
The Director of Sports Academies is expected to:
- Uphold the values and reputation of BCIS International School.
- Adhere to relevant ISP Codes of Conduct and professional standards.
- Comply with all applicable BCIS policies and procedures when providing services on campus or working with students.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
- Demonstrate integrity, professionalism and respect in all interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information, academic records and internal BCIS information.
The service agreement requires all student data, academic records and internal BCIS information to be treated as strictly confidential.
5. RELATIONSHIP WITH BCIS
The Director of Sports Academies provides services to BCIS as an independent contractor through the Service Provider.
Nothing in this Job Description is intended to create an employment relationship between BCIS and the Service Provider.
The Service Provider retains professional discretion and control over the manner and method by which the contracted services are performed, subject to the requirements, standards, policies and outcomes established under the Service Agreement.
The Service Provider is responsible for its own applicable taxes, insurance, statutory obligations and professional liability insurance.
6. WORKING ARRANGEMENT
Services are anticipated to be provided during periods when the school is operational and generally during normal school operating periods from Monday to Friday within a daytime service window.
These arrangements represent anticipated service availability and on-site presence and do not constitute fixed employee working hours, attendance requirements or employee-style supervision.
Any material changes to service availability are subject to mutual agreement in writing.
7. CONFIDENTIALITY, DATA PROTECTION AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The Director of Sports Academies must:
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding BCIS students, families, staff and operations.
- Use student and school information only for the purposes of providing the contracted services.
- Comply with applicable BCIS data protection and confidentiality requirements.
- Ensure that confidential information is not disclosed to third parties.
- Ensure that materials, curricula, documents, reports, resources and other work products created in the course of providing the contracted services are treated in accordance with the Service Agreement.
Under the Service Agreement, work products created in the course of providing the services are the exclusive intellectual property of BCIS.

9. REVIEW OF THE ROLE
The responsibilities and priorities of the Director of Sports Academies may develop over the duration of the Service Agreement in response to the strategic needs of BCIS Active and the school.
Any material changes to the contracted services should be agreed in accordance with the Service Agreement.
