Senior Project Manager

This role is for a Senior Project Manager will deliver four Ammunition Processing Buildings (APBs) which is a key leadership role and will be responsible for leading the delivery of complex civil engineering and infrastructure under NEC4 forms of contract. The role requires an experienced project leader from a civil engineering/construction background, capable of managing projects through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover in a highly regulated environment.

This role will suit a senior delivery professional with strong experience in heavy civils, structural or infrastructure works, and a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage contractors and consultants, and drive safe, timely and cost-effective delivery against demanding programme objectives.

Responsibilities

Lead and motivate project teams to deliver outstanding results and drive a culture of excellence.

Champion Health & Safety, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and promoting a strong safety-first culture.

Manage key stakeholder relationships to achieve successful project outcomes and business objectives.

Oversee the full project lifecycle, managing scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk from inception through to handover.

Lead procurement activities and NEC4 contract delivery in line with MOD policies and governance requirements.

Ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets, timelines, and performance targets.

Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement through regular feedback and effective contract management.

Deliver accurate project, commercial, and performance reporting while meeting assurance and compliance requirements.

Contribute to business growth and operational excellence by leading continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.

What We're Looking For:

Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Proven experience delivering major civil engineering or infrastructure projects within highly regulated environments.

Strong track record of managing projects across the full lifecycle, from design and procurement through to construction, commissioning, and handover.

Sound knowledge of NEC4 contracts, commercial management, change control, risk, and project governance.

Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing contractors and consultants to achieve successful project delivery.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels.

Chartered status (or working towards it) and a commitment to professional development.

⭐ Desirable Skills

Experience delivering Defence, utilities, heavy civils, or major infrastructure projects.

NEC4 ECC Accredited Project Manager, APM qualification, or SMSTS certification.

Experience using CEMAR or similar contract management systems.
