Senior Cloud Engineer

The Team

You’ll join a team of engineers who own the cloud infrastructure behind our managed customer environments across AWS and Azure, from provisioning and upgrades through to monitoring and incident response. We work close to production and close to the customer.

Your Challenge

• Prepare, orchestrate, provision, configure, and monitor cloud infrastructure and services on AWS and Azure.
• Own the Terraform modules and automation behind our fleet of managed customer environments: provisioning, upgrades, and operations.
• Install, maintain, and operate the tooling that runs on top of them, from popular open-source components to our own in-house services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer-facing issues alongside our support and delivery teams, keeping production services reliable and available.
• Build, secure, and harden our infrastructure: improving resilience, reducing manual toil, and closing gaps before they become incidents.
• Bring AI into how the work gets done: use AI tooling to move faster on infrastructure code, runbooks, and incident triage, and help the team figure out where it genuinely helps and where it doesn’t.
• Play an active role in shaping the overall architecture of the Ataccama Cloud Platform.

Is This You?

• You have hands-on production experience with Kubernetes: managing clusters, deploying applications, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability.
• You have expertise in Terraform, managing infrastructure as code to provision and maintain cloud resources effectively.
• You’re well-versed in working with AWS or Azure, leveraging their services to build scalable and secure systems.
• You have a solid understanding of CI/CD and GitOps: building workflows that automate deployments and keeping environment state declarative, versioned, and reproducible.
• You know how to set up and monitor systems using tools like Prometheus and Grafana, creating actionable dashboards and alerts.
• You’re solid on cloud networking, e.g. VPCs/VNets and peering, private connectivity and VPNs, DNS, load balancers and ingress, egress control and access proxies.
• You’re curious about AI and already use it in your day-to-day work. You have views on where it speeds you up, and enough judgement to know when to check its output - especially in production.
• You’re comfortable working with customer environments and communicating clearly in English with people who aren’t infrastructure engineers.
• You operate at a senior level: you can mentor engineers, you scope and drive work without being handed a spec, you make trade-offs deliberately and can explain them, and you raise the bar for the engineers around you.

Nice to Have

• You are fully proficient with both AWS and Azure.
• You’ve led a technical initiative end to end.
• You’re experienced with Helm.
• You’re experienced in managing PostgreSQL databases - optimizing performance, ensuring security, and maintaining reliability.
• Exposure to security and compliance work in a cloud environment (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar).

On-call

This role includes participation in an on-call rotation (12/7) for our production environments. We’re upfront about it because it’s part of the job: the rotation is shared across the team, and we treat every page as a signal that something should be automated or fixed properly.
