Senior Engineering Manager - AI

You'll own three of our most critical teams: AI, Backend and Infrastructure. You'll set technical direction, build engineering leaders, and keep the systems underneath Atlys scaling as product, traffic and complexity compound. You report directly to the CTO.

Responsibilities:

• Build multi-agent systems that carry real business outcomes. Stateless agents on durable execution, so a workflow spanning days can retry, resume and hand off to a human without corrupting state. You own the harness, the eval infrastructure, the guardrails, and the cost and latency envelope that decides whether any of it is viable in production.
• Scale the core backend architecture. Traffic, product surface and country-specific complexity are all growing at once. Keep p99s flat while they do, and make the architectural bets early enough that they're still cheap.
• Strengthen infrastructure and developer velocity through better deployment systems, observability, automation and internal tooling. Product teams should ship without filing a ticket against your org. Golden paths over gatekeeping.
• Reduce operational complexity through platform engineering and Infrastructure as Code, moving toil out of product teams and into systems that manage themselves.
• Build an engineering organisation that scales. Hire exceptional people, grow managers and senior ICs into leaders, and hold a technical bar that doesn't quietly drift down as headcount goes up.

Requirements:

• Have 10+ years in engineering, including 3+ years leading multiple teams or leading managers in a high-growth environment.
• Have shipped multi-agent systems to real users, and can talk concretely about evals, regression detection, failure containment, and what they cost to run.
• Have built or operated systems on durable execution (Temporal, Restate, Cadence, or something homegrown), and understand why stateless agents plus durable orchestration beats the alternatives.
• Have worked on developer platforms, automation systems, AI infrastructure or large-scale data and signals platforms.
• Have a track record of hiring, coaching and growing engineers and engineering leaders, with a high bar for ownership and execution you can defend with specifics.
