Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital is seeking an APP to join our growing Pediatric Preventive Cardiology program, part of Advocate Health.

This is a primarily clinical outpatient role focused on the assessment and longitudinal management of children and adolescents with cardiovascular risk factors and conditions that predispose to early cardiovascular disease, with opportunities to participate in research and program development. The successful candidate will deliver care across both in-person and virtual clinics, supporting patients and families throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

About the Program

Our Pediatric Preventive Cardiology program-based at Levine Children's Hospital and supported by the resources of Advocate Health, one of the nation's largest integrated health systems-provides specialized, evidence-based care aimed at identifying and modifying cardiovascular risk early in life.

The patient population includes children and adolescents with:

· Hypertension and elevated blood pressure

· Familial hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous and homozygous), including cascade-screened family members

· Hypertriglyceridemia and rare genetic dyslipidemias

· Elevated cardiovascular risk secondary to high-risk conditions, including childhood cancer survivors, chronic kidney disease, and inflammatory/autoimmune disorders

The program operates through a hybrid model of in-person clinics and telehealth, expanding access to specialized preventive care across a three-state region.

Key Responsibilities

This is a predominantly clinical position. The majority of the role is dedicated to direct patient care, with protected opportunities for research and program development available to candidates with those interests.

Clinical Care (primary focus)

· Provide comprehensive outpatient evaluation and longitudinal management for the patient populations described above, in collaboration with attending pediatric cardiologists.

· Conduct new-patient evaluations, follow-up visits, lipid and blood pressure management, lifestyle counseling, and pharmacologic management as appropriate.

· Order and interpret relevant diagnostic studies (e.g., lipid panels, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, echocardiography, and other cardiovascular testing) in coordination with the care team.

· Deliver care through both in-person clinics and virtual/telehealth visits to patients located across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

· Provide patient- and family-centered education, including on diet, physical activity, medication adherence, and condition-specific risk reduction.

· Coordinate care with referring providers, primary care, and subspecialists (oncology, nephrology, rheumatology, genetics), as well as community resources.

Research (opportunity)

· Participate in clinical and quality-improvement research within the program, with opportunities to contribute to study design, data collection, and dissemination.

· Support outcomes tracking across the patient population.

Program Development (opportunity)

· Contribute to the development and refinement of clinical pathways and protocols, with a specific focus on the outpatient management of pediatric hypertension.

· Help build and standardize workflows, documentation tools, and care models that scale across in-person and virtual settings and across multiple states.

Qualifications

· Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

· Current certification as a Physician Assistant ( PA-C) or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-PC or PNP-AC) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with relevant pediatric experience.

· Active, unrestricted PA/NP licensure with eligibility to obtain and maintain authorization to practice in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia (multi-state licensure is required to support cross-state telehealth and in-person care).

· DEA registration or eligibility.

Ideal Candidate

· Clinical experience in pediatric cardiology, preventive cardiology, lipidology, or management of pediatric hypertension.

· Experience with telehealth delivery and comfort managing patients across a hybrid in-person/virtual model.

· Familiarity with chronic disease management in high-risk pediatric populations (e.g., cancer survivorship, chronic kidney disease, inflammatory disorders).

· Interest or prior experience in clinical research, quality improvement, or program development.

Practice Setting

This position combines in-person clinic sessions with virtual care, allowing flexible delivery of specialized preventive cardiology services to patients across a three-state catchment area. The role is well suited to a clinician who values direct patient care and the chance to help shape a developing program within an academic children's hospital environment.
