Responsible for overseeing import and export documentation compliance and ensuring reporting controls are in place for international shipments while applying global requirements for AUMOVIO Automotive locations in North America. Lead and coordinate AUMOVIO's Customs programs, including but not limited to Drawback, Free Trade Agreements, Classifications, Duty Minimization initiatives, KPIs, and audit controls. Ensure compliant declarations and adjustment reporting to relevant customs authorities for export and import filings across North America. Provide and support training for AUMOVIO employees on trade compliance related topics.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and classify goods for import and export. Coordinate classification updates within SAP and other related systems. Work with internal functional contacts and AUMOVIO's external Trade Service Providers to obtain and maintain valid Harmonized Tariff Classifications, Schedule B codes, ECCN determinations, export licenses, and license applications. Support AUMOVIO employees with import and export shipment requirements and maintain online shipping systems supporting export filing processes.

  • Ensure compliant valuation declarations and adjustment reporting to BIS and CBP for export and import filings, considering price changes, post-declaration adjustments related to transfer pricing, assists, R&D charges, and other applicable value changes. Ensure compliant reconciliation filings and post-entry adjustments for imports. Collaborate with Finance to establish valuation reporting processes and identify adjustments to declared values. Coordinate with Trade Service Providers and customs brokers to ensure compliant filings.

  • Lead the C-TPAT program to ensure compliance with CBP's C-TPAT guidelines. Conduct annual C-TPAT security profile reviews, maintain the C-TPAT portal, coordinate business partner security surveys, evaluate results, and recommend corrective actions where necessary. Work with internal stakeholders to ensure the C-TPAT program is properly documented and maintained. Perform and support C-TPAT site assessments as required.

  • Coach and oversee Customs Specialists, contracted staff, and Trade Compliance colleagues across North America.

  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned by management.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key user of the CBP ACE System. Perform AES filings and audits, create and maintain records, support export screenings, and maintain export documentation for audit purposes. File EEIs, SLIs, complete ECCN classification requests submitted to BIS, and support export license applications as needed.

  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to document, control, and implement business processes, policies, and work instructions.

  • Create, deliver, and oversee Foreign Trade Compliance training programs for North America.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Business, Business Management, or a related field, or a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a Bachelor degree.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Customs and Trade Compliance.

  • Availability to support business needs outside regular working hours and on weekends when required.

  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally. (10-20%)

  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Power BI, process flow mapping, email systems, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

  • Understanding of logistics processes, bonded movements, and carrier management.

  • Knowledge of North American customs laws and regulatory requirements.

  • Knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

  • Experience with AES and ACE systems.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future for this job posting.

ADDITIONAL WAYS TO STAND OUT

  • U.S. Customs Broker License.

  • Certified Export Specialist (CES) certification through NCBFAA.

  • CCS - certified customs specialist

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent.

  • Experience with SAP
