This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Business Systems & Solution Architecture (D365 F&O) based in the United States.
This is a hands-on technology leadership role responsible for the strategy, architecture, delivery, and continuous improvement of a complex enterprise business systems environment.
You will serve as the primary technology owner for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, with particular depth across Order to Cash and supply chain processes.
Approximately 70% of the role is hands-on, spanning solution design, configuration oversight, integrations, troubleshooting, testing, and production support.
You will partner closely with business and technology leaders to translate operational needs into scalable, secure, and supportable solutions.
The role also provides architectural oversight across eCommerce, warehouse, EDI, analytics, financial, HR, and other connected enterprise platforms.
As a senior leader, you will guide internal teams and external partners while shaping the technology roadmap, delivery standards, and business systems operating model.
Success will be measured through reliable systems, reduced technical debt, stronger operational processes, and measurable business outcomes.
Accountabilities
- Serve as the lead solution architect and senior functional/technical authority for D365 F&O and connected enterprise applications, owning solutions from requirements and architecture through configuration, testing, deployment, stabilization, and ongoing support.
- Lead hands-on resolution of complex production incidents, integration failures, process gaps, performance issues, and root-cause investigations.
- Own solution architecture across the Order to Cash lifecycle, including customer setup, pricing, sales orders, inventory availability, fulfillment, shipping, invoicing, returns, credit processes, and financial integration.
- Provide leadership across supply chain, distribution, order fulfillment, Advanced Warehouse Management, and the Warehouse Management mobile application.
- Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, eCommerce, and Customer Service to simplify processes, improve system adoption and data quality, and strengthen operational visibility.
- Establish and maintain the target architecture for business applications, including application boundaries, integration patterns, master data ownership, security, and support responsibilities.
- Provide architectural oversight for integrations between D365 F&O and eCommerce, warehouse, EDI, product information, analytics, financial planning, HR, and other enterprise platforms.
- Promote supportable, out-of-the-box-first solutions and appropriate use of Microsoft Azure, Power Platform, Dataverse, and related technologies while minimizing technical debt.
- Establish standards for solution documentation, environment management, release governance, monitoring, data migration, and production support.
- Lead internal team members, consultants, implementation partners, and managed service providers while remaining directly involved in solution delivery and technical decision-making.
- Own the Business Systems roadmap, demand intake, prioritization, delivery commitments, vendor performance, budget inputs, and operational support.
- Build trusted relationships with business leaders and act as an accountable point of contact for business systems priorities, risks, architecture decisions, and critical issues.
- Coach and develop team members, strengthen functional and technical capabilities, and establish clear ownership across applications and business processes.
- Ensure business systems and solutions meet cybersecurity, access control, audit, change management, segregation of duties, and data governance requirements.
- 10+ years of progressive experience delivering and supporting enterprise business applications, including significant hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
- 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, technical leadership, business systems leadership, or a comparable senior technology role.
- Deep expertise in D365 F&O Order to Cash processes and their integration with inventory, warehouse, transportation, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.
- Strong experience with D365 Advanced Warehouse Management and the Warehouse Management mobile application, including inbound, outbound, picking, packing, replenishment, wave processing, work execution, and warehouse controls.
- Proven experience designing and supporting enterprise integrations, APIs, data migration, batch processing, monitoring, exception handling, and related data flows.
- Ability to understand, review, and challenge functional and technical designs, extension patterns, data entities, integration approaches, and development solutions.
- Working knowledge of X++, Azure, Power Platform, SQL, data entities, and enterprise integration technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into practical solution architectures and lead delivery from implementation through production support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to balance operational priorities, technical considerations, security, scalability, cost, and long-term supportability.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Hands-on, pragmatic leadership style with strong accountability, collaboration, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in consumer products, wholesale distribution, retail, eCommerce, manufacturing, or similarly complex order fulfillment environments is preferred.
- Microsoft certifications related to D365 Finance, Supply Chain Management, Solution Architecture, Power Platform, or Azure are a plus.
- Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, application modernization, platform consolidation, or major ERP transformation initiatives is advantageous.
- Familiarity with IT governance, cybersecurity, audit controls, segregation of duties, and formal change management is preferred.
- Competitive base salary of $155,000-$170,000 USD, with compensation determined based on experience, education, skills, and other relevant factors.
