Australian Unity is a member-owned mutual and social enterprise headquartered in Melbourne that provides health insurance, home and aged care, retirement communities, wealth management and financial advice. Tracing its roots to 1840, it reinvests its profits into services for members and runs the Australian Unity Wellbeing Index with Deakin University, with operations across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and other states. It hires care team leaders, retirement community managers, health concierge staff, finance business partners, internal auditors, legal counsel and contact centre staff.

At Australian Unity, we’re reimagining how health and care are delivered in local communities. By working together differently, we help customers live healthier, more independent, and fulfilling lives while staying connected to supportive communities.

As a Scheduling Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in making this happen. In this fast-paced role, you’ll plan and organise services, so they run smoothly and meet customer needs. You’ll work closely with our supply and demand team to improve scheduling processes using data and systems, ensuring customers receive timely, high-quality support.

You’ll be the first point of contact for service changes, managing care worker schedules, making quick adjustments, and coordinating third-party bookings. Your work will directly impact the independence and well-being of our customers, helping them live confidently at home.

This is a full-time hybrid position with four days based from your choice of ourTuggerah or Newcastle office, and one day working from home each week. In this role, you'll manage rostering and scheduling across the Greater Newcastle and Hunter Valley region. Hourly rate of $40.38 + Super.

Key accountabilities:

  • Schedule and manage care worker rosters, including intraday changes and leave requests
  • Ensure compliance with rostering guidelines, training, and funding requirements
  • Coordinate third-party service bookings and supplier engagement
  • Act as first point of contact for customer scheduling enquiries, providing timely and friendly support
  • Use systems to maintain accurate data and support payroll accuracy
  • Provide workforce insights to leaders and assist with recruitment alignment
  • Deliver occasional after-hours support when rostered
  • Promote safety, quality and compliance in all activities

What You Will Bring

  • Experience in scheduling or rostering is ideal but not essential - we also welcome applicants from a call centre, retail or customer support background looking for a career change
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage changing priorities
  • Strong communication skills and empathy for customers and colleagues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general administration practices
  • Experience using Procura/Genesys/Tableau/Easy Roster would be highly regarded

Why work for Australian Unity?

  • Additional Leave benefits including Community, Wellbeing & Deep Listening Leave
  • Flexible Work Options -hybrid role combining WFH & Branch days
  • Career development with full access to LinkedIn Learning & internal opportunities
  • Staff discounts across our insurance products, travel and retail partners
  • Fitness Passport - discounted access to 1,500+ gyms & facilities
  • Novated Car Leasing options through our partners Maxxia or Flair Cars
  • 14 weeks paid Parental Leave
