Job Requisition ID #
26WD100617Position Overview
Autodesk is shaping the future of the design and make industries by helping our customers navigate a rapidly evolving AI-driven landscape. Supporting our Autodesk AI initiatives, you will help us understand how AI and new business models are reshaping the competitive landscape across Manufacturing, AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations), and Media and Entertainment.
This is an individual contributor role on a team with deep business, industry, and technical experience. A successful candidate builds with AI by default, not as a tool added on top.
The way competitive intelligence gets done is changing faster than most business functions can adapt. We’re hiring for that gap. You will spend as much time building the systems that produce our intelligence as you will producing it.
Location: We support hybrid work, and you work near our Boston, Massachusetts, Toronto, Canada, Portland, Oregon, or San Francisco, California offices. This role follows East Coast hours.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain the automated systems that produce our intelligence, including source monitoring and refresh cadences
Find the parts of our process that shouldn’t be manual anymore and fix them without waiting for permission
Track how AI is changing our markets, following competitors, startups, funding, product releases, partnerships, research, talent movement, and regulatory shifts
Work directly with business functions, product management, engineering, and technical benchmarking to define target markets, map competitive landscapes, size opportunities, identify gaps, and test market and commercial assumptions against what is actually buildable
Synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into clear points of view, challenging assumptions, reconciling conflicting perspectives, and connecting findings to broader implications for Autodesk
You have a working sense of what is hard and what is easy to build with AI right now, and you can form a reasonable hypothesis about how a competitor pulled something off
Take the lead on coordinating research and intelligence projects as needed, bringing structure to ambiguous questions, facilitating discussions, managing contributors and timelines, keeping teams on track, and ensuring conclusions are captured in clear final deliverables
Produce recurring competitive intelligence and fast-turn analysis for leaders, translating complex market and technical developments into concise, executive-ready briefs, presentations, and market maps, including for C-suite
Keep the competitive picture available to teams on demand
Bring us tools, methods, and ideas before we know to ask. Push when you think we’re doing something the slow way
Occasional travel to industry events and internal meetings
Minimum Qualifications
You’ve built workflows, agents, or pipelines that run without you. Bring one to the interview and walk us through the choices you made
Strong analytical judgment and the ability to turn incomplete or fragmented information into a defensible point of view
You start things. The work you’re proudest of is probably something nobody assigned you
5+ years of experience in one or more of the following, or a combination: competitive intelligence, market research, business intelligence, strategy, consulting, product management, software or data engineering
Know where automated output needs a human check, and build that check into the system
Ability to lead projects or significant workstreams involving multiple stakeholders and deadlines
Data storytelling and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex information clear to senior stakeholders
Ability to collaborate on analytical work, including contributing to projects led by others and bringing different perspectives into a coherent output
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, data science, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated interest in physical AI across Autodesk industries: Manufacturing, AECO, or Media and Entertainment
You can read a competitor’s model release or data position and say what it means for their roadmap and their cost structure
Experience with customer discovery, market validation, go-to-market analysis, or business case development
Experience with Python, SQL, or similar, at the level of getting something working rather than shipping production code
Familiarity with incumbent market data sources such as PitchBook, CB Insights, Crunchbase, or similar platforms
Experience with Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytical tools
MBA or equivalent business experience
