WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Software Developer, your primary responsibility is to design, develop, implement and support enterprise software solutions used throughout the AVI-SPL organization. You will collaborate with product owners, software architects, data engineers, developers, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into highly functional, reliable and scalable technical solutions. Development work may span custom applications, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Azure services, APIs, databases, web applications, integrations, and Power Platform solutions. Candidates must have practical experience developing, configuring, integrating, or supporting solutions in an enterprise environment. In addition to maintaining and enhancing existing applications, you will help modernize AVI-SPL's application portfolio by developing cloud-based solutions using Azure and established software engineering standards. The successful candidate will be comfortable learning new technologies, working across different areas of the application stack, and contributing wherever their software engineering skills can provide value.
Day-To-Day Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise software applications and integrations.
- Develop, customize, integrate, and support solutions utilizing Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft 365.
- Build scalable custom web parts, extensions, and themes using the SharePoint Framework (SPFx), TypeScript, React, and modern JavaScript
- Work with stakeholders and product owners to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements and solutions.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
- Additional platform development responsibilities:
- Manage SharePoint Online site collections, hub sites, document libraries, and custom metadata content types.
- Connect SharePoint environments with external databases and third-party tools via REST APIs and Microsoft Graph
- Design and implement integrations between SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Azure, enterprise applications, databases, and third-party systems.
- Create complex end-to-end workflows and approval processes leveraging Power Automate and Power Apps.
- Develop reusable components and services with an emphasis on maintainability, scalability, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with Software Engineering, Data Engineering, DevOps, architecture, and other technical teams to follow enterprise development standards.
- Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, technical design discussions, and other engineering meetings.
- Manage multiple development work items using Azure DevOps while working within established priorities and delivery timelines.
- Create and maintain technical, solution, and appropriate end-user documentation.
- Follow source control, branching, code review, CI/CD, and deployment practices established by the Software Engineering team.
- Support applications through their complete lifecycle, including troubleshooting and production support when necessary.
- Continuously improve technical skills, engineering practices, development quality, and delivery velocity.
- Contribute as needed to other initiatives involving Azure, .NET, SharePoint, Power Platform, DevOps, data engineering, and other technologies
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must-Haves:
- 3-5+ years of professional software development experience, including SharePoint Online and SharePoint Framework (SPFx).
- Hands-on experience developing, configuring, integrating, and supporting Microsoft SharePoint solutions.
- Experience developing and supporting business or enterprise applications.
- Working knowledge of modern software development practices, including source control, testing, debugging, and application lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft 365 and Azure.
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate into practical technical solutions.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Inquisitive and data-oriented.
- Self-starter that demonstrates initiative and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Clear and professional communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an Agile software engineering team.
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and contribute across different areas of the software stack.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), requirements management tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps), visualization and diagramming tools.
- Two-year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is required.
