Axon Enterprise is an American public safety technology company founded in 1993 as TASER International to sell conducted energy weapons to police forces. It has since built a much broader business around body-worn cameras, in-car video, evidence management software and a growing set of artificial intelligence tools that draft reports, redact footage and transcribe interviews, sold to law enforcement, corrections and enterprise security customers as bundled subscriptions. Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona and listed on Nasdaq, the company now earns the majority of its revenue from recurring software and sensor plans rather than hardware sales.

Join Axon and be a Force for Good.

At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

Your Impact

Every agency that comes onto Axon's platform runs into the same hard problem: decades of fragmented, inconsistent public safety data - case records, CAD history, evidence metadata, camera network configurations, RMS schemas - has to move into a unified, trustworthy foundation without disrupting operations that can't afford downtime. Today, that work is largely bespoke: rebuilt engagement by engagement. We're looking for a technical leader to change that - someone who will fundamentally reinvent how Axon executes data migrations, integrations, and conversions across our Fusus, Records, Standards, e.com, Gravity, and Vision product lines. This is an architecture and engineering leadership role, not a project-management one. We need someone who has built migration platforms, not just run migration projects, and who can turn a historically services-heavy discipline into a repeatable, tooled, scalable engineering capability.

Your Day To Day

  • Owns the technical architecture and execution strategy for data migrations, conversions, and integrations across Fusus, Records, Standards, Gravity, and Vision - replacing ad hoc, engagement-by-engagement approaches with reusable frameworks, connectors, and tooling.
  • Partners with Product to design and build a modern migration/integration platform - ETL/ELT pipelines, schema-mapping and transformation tooling, data quality/validation frameworks, reconciliation and rollback tooling - that can be configured per agency rather than rebuilt per agency.
  • Leads engineering and solution architecture teams responsible for legacy CAD/RMS data extraction, evidence and case data conversion, camera network/device integration (Fusus), and standards-based interoperability (e.g., NIEM, NIBRS, CJIS-compliant data exchange).
  • Establishes common data mapping, transformation, and validation standards across products so a single integration pattern can serve Records, Standards, Fusus, Gravity, evidence migrations and Vision instead of five bespoke pipelines.
  • Partners closely with Product and R&D to build, influence, and execute roadmap changes so migration/integration complexity is designed into new products rather than absorbed downstream by services.
  • Defines and enforces data governance, security, and chain-of-custody requirements for sensitive public safety and criminal justice data throughout migration and integration workflows.
  • Builds a clear build-vs-buy point of view on migration/integration tooling - evaluating platforms such as Informatica, MuleSoft, Fivetran, Databricks/Snowflake, Palantir Foundry, and Boomi - and makes the call on what to build in-house vs. license.
  • Establishes KPIs for migration/conversion velocity, data quality, defect rates, and time-to-go-live, and drives them down systematically.
  • Builds, mentors, and scales a team of data engineers, integration engineers, and solution architects; establishes career paths and technical leveling for a discipline that has historically been treated as a services function rather than an engineering one.
  • Partners with PSO delivery leadership, Sales, and the Mission Engineering/Operator team to align migration/integration capacity and pricing with customer commitments.
  • Stays current on data platform tooling, AI-assisted mapping/transformation, and public-safety interoperability standards to keep Axon's approach ahead of the market.
  • Establishes a third-party partnership strategy to build robust, repeatable API pipelines and integration processes, including mutually beneficial engagements with industry partners and competitors.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • 10+ years leading data engineering, integration, or migration teams, including 5+ years in a hands-on architecture, systems, programming, and/or build capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and building data migration/conversion platforms or frameworks at scale - not just running individual migration projects
  • Deep technical fluency in ETL/ELT design, data modeling, schema mapping, API-based and event-driven integration patterns, and data quality/validation frameworks
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-assisted data mapping, entity resolution, or automated schema inference to accelerate conversion work
  • Direct experience with one or more enterprise data integration/migration platforms (e.g., Informatica, MuleSoft, Fivetran, Talend, Databricks, Snowflake, Palantir Foundry, Boomi, SnapLogic, Workato, AWS Glue/DMS)
  • Strong SQL and data pipeline scripting ability (Python or equivalent); technical enough to personally review architecture and code-level decisions, not just manage the people who make them
  • Experience leading legacy system decommissioning and cutover at scale, with a track record of minimizing customer downtime and data-loss risk
  • Proven ability to build and scale technical teams, including hiring and developing data/integration engineers and solution architects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate deep technical tradeoffs for executive, sales, and customer audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with public safety, criminal justice, or government data (CAD, RMS, NIBRS/UCR, NIEM, CJIS-compliant systems) and the interoperability standards that govern them
  • Experience at a data platform, data integration, or data fusion company (e.g., Palantir, Peregrine, Informatica, MuleSoft, Databricks, Snowflake, Fivetran) in a technical leadership capacity
  • Experience integrating IoT/camera/sensor networks - relevant to Fusus-style real-time situational awareness integrations
  • Experience building or scaling a Systems Integrator/contractor ecosystem for technical delivery
  • Experience in a company transitioning a services-heavy delivery model to a product-led, tooled delivery model
  • MBA or equivalent business acumen for pricing, build-vs-buy, and P&L tradeoffs tied to migration/integration strategy
  • International delivery experience (UK, Canada, Australia, and other Axon markets)
