Position Summary :
Bank of America is seeking a highly experienced Senior Architect with deep Artificial Intelligence expertise to lead the architecture, strategy, and adoption of AI-powered solutions across enterprise platforms. This role will define future-state architectures, guide technology decisions, and drive the implementation of scalable, secure, and responsible AI capabilities that deliver measurable business outcomes.
The ideal candidate combines strong enterprise architecture experience with hands-on knowledge of modern AI technologies including Generative AI, Agentic AI, Machine Learning, Knowledge Retrieval, and Intelligent Automation. Experience designing cloud-native architectures is preferred but not required.
This job is responsible for defining an architectural vision and solution that supports the strategic outcomes of the Business' Products and Services. Key responsibilities include defining the target operating environment, designing for client resiliency, assisting with solution design, and defining non-functional requirements. Job expectations include working with stakeholders and service providers aligned to the Business' strategic objectives, evaluating the impact of strategic design decisions, and contributing to the architecture roadmap.
Responsibilities:
- Works across the business, operations and technology to create the solution intent and architectural vision for complex solutions and prioritize functional and non-functional requirements into a technology backlog to enable the technology roadmap and functionality to support evolving capabilities and services
- Contributes to the creation of the architecture roadmap of defined domains (Business, Application, Data, and Technology) in support of the product roadmap and the development of best practices including standardized templates
- Clarifies the architecture, assists with system design to support implementation, and provides solution options to resolve any architectural impediments
- Facilitates solution driven discussions, leads the design of complex architectures, and finds creative solutions through knowledge of domain, practical experiments, and proof of concepts while ensuring architecture is flexible, modular, and adaptable
- Educates team members on the technology practices, standardization strategies, and best practices to create innovative solutions
- Supports the team as needed to select the technology stack required for solutions and helps select preferred technology products
- Performs design and code reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements are sufficiently met (for example, security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability)
- Define and communicate enterprise AI architecture vision, roadmaps, and target-state capabilities.
- Partner with business, product, engineering, data, risk, and security teams to translate strategic objectives into scalable technology solutions.
- Lead architecture for AI initiatives including GenAI, agentic workflows, intelligent copilots, recommendation engines, and predictive analytics.
- Develop solution designs, architecture blueprints, and reference patterns that enable reuse across the enterprise.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies, platforms, models, and vendors and provide architecture recommendations.
- Drive architecture governance, design reviews, and alignment with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.
- Define non-functional requirements including scalability, resiliency, observability, security, performance, and responsible AI controls.
- Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle, from ideation through production deployment.
- Mentor architects and engineers on AI architecture patterns, technology strategy, and solution design best practices.
- Support proof-of-concepts, innovation initiatives, and rapid experimentation to validate architecture decisions.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or Technology Strategy.
- Experience in leading large-scale AI, Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics, or Intelligent Automation initiatives.
- Deep understanding of: Generative AI Large Language Models (LLMs),Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) ,Agentic AI architectures.

- Experience designing enterprise-scale distributed systems and API-driven architectures.
- Strong understanding of data architecture, data engineering, analytics platforms, and integration patterns.
- Experience conducting architecture reviews and defining target-state technology strategies.

- Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and consulting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience designing and deploying solutions on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with cloud-native services including Kubernetes, serverless platforms, and containerized architectures.
- Familiarity with AI platform services such as Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Vertex AI, Databricks, or equivalent technologies.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, or similar technologies.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or comparable solutions.
- Experience within financial services, banking, risk, compliance, or regulated industries.
- Software engineering background with proficiency in Python, Java, or similar languages.
