We’re BDO, a global professional services firm connected to local markets. Our people work together to provide specialist expertise, helping businesses achieve their goals.

We inspire others, to go further. We create together, to reach higher. We build trust, to lead purposefully.

Whether you're building your future or starting your career with us, you won’t do it alone. From creating solutions for our clients to building careers for our people, we shape what matters, and that’s where you come in.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Manager in Business Development to help shape and support the continued growth of BDO’s Business Services practice in Sydney.

Working closely with Partners, Directors and subject matter experts, you’ll help develop and scale priority service specialisations, strengthen referral relationships and support teams to take opportunities to market and win work.

The role combines leading business development initiatives in Sydney and scaling priority Business Services specialisations nationally.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with Partner subject matter experts to take established Business Service propositions to market locally and nationally, developing and executing business development plans that build targeted relationships, generate opportunities and increase market presence.
  • Build strong relationships internally and with clients to identify opportunities, share market insights, connect the right people across BDO and help turn opportunities into new work.
  • Collaborate with Partners and Directors to prioritise key referrers, deepen relationships and create sustainable sources of new business opportunities
  • Guide networking, profile-raising and market-facing activities to maximise commercial and relationship outcomes.
  • Coach and guide Partners on market segmentation, target identification, opportunity development and client engagement.
  • Support high-value, strategic opportunities related to the Business Services specialisations, including proposals and pitches, win strategies, competitive positioning, stakeholder mapping and pursuit planning.
  • Improve pipeline visibility and discipline through regular reviews and reporting on pipeline health and opportunity conversion across the priority specialisations.

Skills/Attributes required

  • Significant business development experience in professional services, consulting or accounting, with a demonstrated track record of supporting revenue growth and converting opportunities.
  • Proven experience developing and executing business development plans to take new or evolving service propositions to market, working with senior stakeholders to identify target clients, build referral pathways and progress opportunities through to conversion and revenue growth.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience developing strategic referral networks, alliances or partnership ecosystems.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify and connect opportunities across service lines to meet client needs.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to challenge traditional approaches.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to deliver outcomes without direct authority.

Why join the team?

This is an opportunity to take a hands-on role in shaping growth across BDO’s Sydney Business Services practice. You’ll work alongside senior leaders, influence go-to-market activity and help build stronger referral pipelines and client opportunities across the business.

If you’re commercially driven, relationship focused and enjoy turning ideas into action, we’d love to hear from you!
