Your Opportunity

BDO Digital is looking for a Consultant, Cloud Engineer to join our growing Cloud and Platform Engineering team. You will work alongside experienced engineers, architects and client teams to design, build and support modern cloud solutions, with a particular focus on Microsoft Azure, cloud-native and serverless technologies.

This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys solving technical problems, automating infrastructure and application delivery, and working directly with clients. Experience working within banking, financial services, consulting or other complex enterprise environments would be an asset.

As a Consultant, you will:

  • Design, build, configure and support Azure cloud and serverless solutions for enterprise clients.
  • Develop cloud-native solutions using services such as Azure Functions, App Service, API Management, Event Hubs, Storage, Key Vault and Azure networking.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code and automation using tools such as Terraform, PowerShell, Azure CLI and/or Python.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments, working with modern DevOps and source-control practices.
  • Work with architects and senior engineers to implement secure, scalable and resilient cloud solutions aligned with client requirements.
  • Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and application issues and contribute to improving performance, reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate directly with client stakeholders and multidisciplinary BDO teams to understand requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, reusable solutions, best practices and continuous improvement across the Cloud and Platform Engineering practice.
  • Continue developing your technical and consulting capabilities through hands-on client delivery, collaboration and professional development.

How do we define success for your role?

  • You demonstrate BDO's core values through all aspects of your work: Integrity, Respect and Collaboration
  • You understand your client’s industry, challenges, and opportunities; clients describe you as positive, professional, and delivering high-quality work
  • You identify, recommend, and are focused on effective service delivery to your clients
  • You share in an inclusive and engaging work environment that develops, retains and attracts talent
  • You actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplace
  • You grow your expertise through learning and professional development

Your experience and education

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience, with a strong preference for Microsoft Azure. This experience threshold aligns with the existing BDO Cloud Engineer description.
  • Hands-on experience building or supporting cloud-native and/or serverless solutions.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, ideally Terraform, and scripting or automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI and/or Python.
  • Understanding of CI/CD, Git-based workflows, APIs, networking, identity, security and cloud operations.
  • Exposure to containers and Kubernetes is an asset. These capabilities appear across BDO's existing Platform Engineering materials.
  • Experience working within banking or financial services and/or a consulting or professional services environment is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications are an asset. BDO's related engineering intake material identifies Azure, AWS or Google Cloud certifications as preferred qualifications.

The expected range of compensation for this role is $68,000 - $104,000 annually.
