Head of Localization/Руководитель отдела локализации (Europe)

SHORT DESCRIPTION

We're looking for a Head of Localization to own the end-to-end localization function for our B2B sports betting platform, keeping ≈40 languages release-ready while setting the strategic direction for how the function evolves and scales.

You'll set the vision, own the budget and vendor strategy, and represent localization at the leadership table - but you'll also stay close enough to the day-to-day to run production yourself when needed. We need someone who can operate at the strategic level and still be fully capable of doing the hands-on work personally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy & leadership

• Own the localization vision, strategy, roadmap and OKRs for each type of content, aligned to company growth and market expansion plans
• Own the localization budget: LSP spend, tooling costs, headcount planning, and ROI reporting to leadership
• Define KPIs and reporting for the function (quality, turnaround time, cost per word, coverage)
• Own and drive major regulator’s compliance requirements to localisation to be implemented in our sportsbook
• Assess localization complexity and cost when the business considers new languages, regions or regulatory markets

Hands-on ownership

• Manage localization delivery across UI, sportsbook content and system messages in ≈40 languages, coordinate end-to-end localization production across translation, review, implementation and release readiness
• Own the LSP relationship end-to-end: vendor selection, contract negotiation, performance review, briefing, LQA, escalation and structured feedback
• Own TMS strategy and execution: selection, implementation, migration, workflow optimization
• Define and maintain quality standards: language tiers, locale conventions, glossaries, style guides and terminology consistency
• Run localization QA directly when required: linguistic testing, UI fit and consistency checks, fixing translation bugs
• Work with engineering and product to define best practices and participate in feature planning where localization is in scope
• Collaborate with support, customer success and account management teams to feed market insights back into product localization
• Drive workflow automation and process improvements

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of experience in localization management for digital products, including hands-on delivery
• Direct, current experience managing language service providers at both operational and strategic level: vendor selection, contract negotiation, performance management, briefing, LQA, escalation
• Experience managing localization delivery across multiple locales at scale (20+)
• Comfortable with translation file formats (JSON, XLIFF) and Git-based workflows - enough to navigate release cycles and technical context without being blocked
• Professional fluency in English
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Comfortable working in evolving processes and willing to roll up your sleeves - the localization function is actively transforming, not in maintenance mode

Any of the following would be a plus:

• Experience in the betting or iGaming industry
• Familiarity with regulatory constraints and cultural specifics across markets
• Experience migrating between TMS platforms
• Previous copy-editing or copywriting experience
• Additional languages
