ENTER THE GAME
We are seeking an Accounting Director to lead Betclic’s Accounting function, ensuring the reliability of financial information and compliance with accounting and tax obligations.
Reporting to the CFO, you will be a member of the Finance Leadership Team and lead Betclic’s Accounting department, comprising approximately 25 team members. You will oversee the Revenue Accounting, Local Accounting, Procurement and Banking Operations teams, based in Malta, Bordeaux and Abidjan.
This is a key leadership role within the Finance function, requiring close collaboration with other Finance teams, business units across Banijay Gaming - including Tipico and JOA - and external stakeholders such as statutory auditors and advisers.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with commercial acumen, experience in supporting transformation and integration programmes, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, high-growth and international environment.
YOUR ROLE WITHIN BETCLIC
Lead Group accounting operations
- Lead monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes across the Group.
- Ensure the quality, consistency and reliability of accounting data.
- Supervise the preparation of statutory accounts for Group subsidiaries.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, including French GAAP and relevant IFRS principles.
- Oversee accounting treatment for complex or non-recurring transactions.
- Coordinate intercompany accounting flows and recharge processes.
- Manage relationships with statutory auditors on accounting matters.
- Ensure clear documentation of accounting judgments, policies and controls
Build scalable accounting governance
- Define and harmonize accounting policies, procedures and working methods across entities.
- Standardize closing calendars, reconciliations, review processes and reporting routines.
- Improve the accounting control environment in coordination with Finance, Legal, Tax, Internal Control and Internal Audit stakeholders.
- Develop accounting KPIs to monitor closing quality, process efficiency and team performance.
- Support continuous improvement in accounting operations, automation and data quality.
Lead and develop the accounting teams
- Manage a team of +25 accountants, based in Malta, Bordeaux and Abidjan.
- Structure the accounting organization to support Group growth.
- Manage, coach and develop accounting managers and teams.
- Build a culture of accountability, technical excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Ensure clear roles and responsibilities across central and local accounting teams.
- Support talent development, succession planning and team engagement.
Support transformation, ERP and integration projects
- Support Finance transformation projects in close coordination with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Consolidation, Legal and IT teams.
- Contribute to the design and deployment of the new ERP environment.
- Participate in integration activities for Tipico, JOA and future acquired businesses.
- Ensure acquired entities are integrated into Betclic’s accounting policies, closing routines and control framework.
Work as a senior Finance leader
- Work closely with the FP&A, Treasury, Tax and Consolidation teams and Finance across Banijay Gaming (Tipico, JOA, etc.).
- Work with Legal and Corporate teams on entity governance, statutory requirements and corporate projects.
- Act as a member of the Corporate Committee, alongside other Finance, Legal and Corporate leaders.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for passionate and curious professionals who bring kindness and a touch of enthusiasm!
- Qualified accountant or chartered accountant with at least 15 years’ experience gained in an accounting firm and in-house, dealing with both holding-company and operational matters.
- Excellent knowledge of French GAAP and a good understanding of IFRS.
- Fluent in English.
- Proactive, rigorous and technically minded, with a Big Smile, plenty of energy and a genuine appetite for people management.
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, data driven, in a constantly evolving international regulatory environment.
