As an Associate Product Manager at Binocs, you will work closely with the founder to own meaningful parts of the product end-to-end, from market research and customer insight through to spec creation and shipped features. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role for someone who wants to learn product management by doing it inside a fast-moving, category-defining Gen AI startup, not by observing someone else's decisions from the sidelines. You'll sit at the intersection of financial services domain expertise, cutting-edge Gen AI capability, and real customer workflows inside PE, private credit, and M& A teams, translating what you learn into product decisions that ship and that customers feel.
The core responsibilities for the job include the following:
Market Research:
- Conduct in-depth research into fintech and Gen AI trends and advancements, staying ahead of market dynamics that inform product strategy and competitive positioning.
- Track emerging AI/ML techniques and tooling applicable to investment research and underwriting.
- Synthesize findings into clear, actionable recommendations for the leadership team.
Customer Insights:
- Develop a deep understanding of our target customers' PE, private credit, and M& A teams, including their workflows, pain points, and expectations of a solution.
- Run and synthesize customer interviews, demos, and feedback sessions.
- Translate insights into a sharp, continuously evolving product value proposition.
Competitor Research:
- Analyze the competitive landscape to understand Binocs's position and identify areas of opportunity and differentiation.
- Monitor competitor product launches, positioning shifts, strengths, weaknesses, and pricing moves.
Product Spec Work:
- Lead the creation of detailed product specifications that articulate the vision, user stories, and functionality, aligned with customer needs and business goals.
- Write specs precise enough for engineering and QA to build against with minimal back-and-forth.
Project Management:
- Act as the linchpin between development, QA, and business stakeholders, managing the product development lifecycle end to end.
- Own timelines, unblock the team, and ensure delivery matches spec, quality bar, and business need.
Core Business Strategy:
- Collaborate closely with the founder and leadership team to shape Binocs's business strategy, bringing market, competitor, and customer insight directly into decisions on target markets, positioning, and innovation pathways.
What Success Looks Like:
- First 30 days: You understand our customers, product, and Gen AI framework well enough to speak about all three fluently, both internally and with customers.
- In the first 90 days, you own at least one product area end-to-end from research and spec through to shipped feature and are a trusted voice in prioritization discussions.
- Within a year, you're independently driving a meaningful slice of the roadmap, with customers and engineering both looking to you for direction in your area.
Requirements:
- MBA, engineering, or an equivalent degree from a top-tier university.
- 0-2 years of experience, ideally with some exposure to fintech, financial services, B2B SaaS, or Gen AI through internships, projects, or full-time work.
- Genuine curiosity about financial services, particularly private equity and private credit; prior coursework, internships, or projects in this space are a strong plus.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, paired with sharp commercial and business acumen.
- A bias for action, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to move fast in a resource-constrained, high-growth environment.
- Strong analytical rigor and a genuine commitment to data-driven decision-making.
- Willingness to learn quickly, take feedback well, and travel globally for customer demos as needed.
- Commitment to working from the office, with high ethical standards and integrity.
