At BioFire Defense, we value the diversity of experience of those who have stepped away from the workforce for a period of time.  Our paid, three-month Returnship program is designed for experienced professionals who have been out of the workforce for at least two years and are looking to restart their careers.

Position Summary:

BioFire Defense Legal Returner provides support to the VP of Legal Affairs on a wide range of legal matters to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.  This role will analyze laws and regulations, help update corporate policies, and draft and review contracts involving all aspects of the company. 

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Defense’s Quality System.

Draft and review a variety of contracts, including but not limited to non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), material transfer agreements (MTAs), sales agreements, and supplier agreements.   

Depending on the employee’s experience, this role may involve advising on regulatory compliance, providing support to Human Resources, assisting with trade compliance laws and regulations, and/or contracting with the US Government.

Training and Education: 

JD and bar admission required

Experience: 

Minimum of four years of legal experience. 

Minimum of two years away from the workforce.

While a wide variety of legal backgrounds will be considered, experience in the biotechnology, medical device, or life sciences industry is preferred. 

Experience with US Government contracting, regulatory compliance, or trade compliance is a plus.

Skills: 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong contract drafting skills.

Ability to interact and be productive while working with various groups and personalities.

High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive matters.

Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
