Product Data Specialist

Job Summary

Bison Commerce is looking for a self-driven Product Data Specialist to independently manage an assigned supplier portfolio - ensuring product data quality, maximizing the number of active listings across sales channels, and improving product discoverability and presentation through SEO and content optimization.

The ideal candidate has 1+ years of hands-on experience with e-commerce product data, marketplace platforms, or product content. They are comfortable working with large product volumes, using AI tools to process and review content, and applying SEO and marketplace best practices to improve product visibility and customer understanding.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of an assigned supplier portfolio - product data quality, supplier communication, new product onboarding, listing completeness, and ongoing product maintenance.

• Communicate with assigned suppliers regarding missing information, data discrepancies, product updates, and content requirements.

• Research missing product information in supplier catalogs, websites, spec sheets, and other reliable sources.

• Proactively maintain and improve supplier data quality and product content standards.

• Format and upload product data according to marketplace requirements and templates across Amazon, Walmart, eBay, and other sales channels.

• Complete and optimize product attributes including dimensions, weights, materials, colors, categories, features, and other relevant product information.

• Map supplier attributes to internal taxonomy and product structures (Connect Attributes).

• Optimize product titles, bullet points, descriptions, keywords, and other listing content according to approved SEO and marketplace guidelines.

• Conduct basic keyword and competitor research to identify relevant search terms, product terminology, and content opportunities.

• Apply SEO principles to improve product discoverability while keeping content accurate, relevant, and customer-focused.

• Review and improve AI-generated product descriptions, bullet points, titles, and keywords, ensuring they meet quality, SEO, brand, and marketplace requirements.

• Review AI-generated images for marketplace compliance, quality, resolution, relevance, and visual accuracy, and identify artefacts or issues requiring correction.

• Investigate and resolve deactivated listings, content issues, and marketplace rejections within the assigned portfolio.

• Monitor existing listings for missing, outdated, or low-quality content and proactively recommend or implement improvements.

• Ensure products are presented consistently across channels and that key product information supports both search visibility and customer decision-making.

• Support marketing and marketplace initiatives by preparing product data and content required for launches, promotions, campaigns, and new channel expansion.

• Work cross-departmentally with the Marketplaces, SEO & Content, Supplier Engagement, Visual, and Engineering teams to improve product readiness and performance.

Qualifications

• Good English language skills (B2+) - able to communicate independently with suppliers, marketplace support teams, and internal teams.

• Strong Excel / spreadsheet skills, with a willingness to learn and adopt new systems and tools.

• Accuracy and strong attention to detail when working with large volumes of product data and content.

• Basic understanding of SEO principles, keyword usage, and e-commerce content optimization.

• Ability to understand how product information influences search visibility, customer understanding, and purchase decisions.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

• Collaborative mindset and willingness to work across teams.

Would Be an Advantage

• 1+ years of experience with e-commerce product data, marketplace platforms, or product content.

• Practical experience with Amazon Seller Central, Walmart, eBay, Shopify, or similar e-commerce platforms.

• Experience with SEO, keyword research, marketplace listing optimization, or e-commerce content.

• Practical experience using AI tools for content generation, optimization, and quality review.

• Experience working with large product catalogs or high-volume product data.

• Experience using product information management systems (PIM) or similar product data platforms.

• Ability to independently manage a large supplier portfolio and prioritize tasks without close supervision.
