BKF is hiring a Construction Inspector to execute onsite construction inspections to ensure the project is being constructed in compliance with the contract requirements and applicable permits.
Responsibilities:
General
- Inspects and reports on a variety of construction projects
- Advises Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and informs contractors of any variances from approved plans and specifications
- Takes samples of materials, prepares test specimens, and assist in conducting field tests, or refers samples for laboratory analysis
- Checks the location of public utilities to avoid interference with construction work
- Checks roadway/slope/structure grades, flow lines, and locations of structures
- Reviews contractor’s traffic control plans and field traffic control; review project safety
- Inspects earthwork grading, placement of asphalt concrete, proportions, and control of mixes
- Inspects delivery, placing, and curing of concrete and the placing of reinforcing steel
- Assists PM in review of project submittals, RFI’s, CCO’s
- Verifies acceptability of material incorporated into the project by Certificates of Compliance, shop drawings, test reports
- Maintains material and inspection records
- Maintains a daily diary, photo log, contract item quantities
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- College degree or minimum 5 years’ work experience with Transportation or Civil related projects
- 4 + years of experience in the supervision or inspection of engineering construction work including reading and interpreting complex construction plans and specifications
- Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver’s record are required

- Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII)
- ICC Reinforced Concrete Inspection Certification
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade 1 Certification
- Qualified SWPPP Certification
- Fall protection Safety Training
- First Aid & CPR
- EIT or PE license

- The typical base salary range for this position is $125,000.00 - $160,000.00 annually, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location, hourly wage
