Responsibilities:

• Lead datapipeline development: Build and maintain PySpark ETL pipelines with high dataquality and performance
• Manage integrations: Establish robust connections to client datasources via APIs and tools like FiveTran, Plaid, and BlackLine’s own internal connector ecosystem
• Ensure reliability: Monitor pipeline performance, automate testing, and validate dataaccuracy
• Optimize for scale: Implement performance improvements (e.g., CDC mechanisms, indexing strategies) for large-scale datasets
• Collaborate & innovate: Work with business stakeholders to refine datarequirements and integrate cutting-edge AI and big datatechnologies
• Design and build infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of datafrom a wide variety of datasources, including dataidentification, mapping, aggregation, conditioning, cleansing, and analyzing.
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing datadelivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including datascientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand datarequirements and deliver valuable insights.
• Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Desire to automate everything.
• Maintain documentation and operational knowledge base.
• Coach and technically train junior staffon design and development standards and best practices.
• Design and implement datasecurity and governance protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.

Qualifications:

Years of Experience in Related Field: 3+ years of experience as a DataEngineeror a similar role

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Technical skills: Expertise in PySpark and datatransformation pipelines. Familiarity with AI technologies and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus
• Communication: Strong communication skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
• Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced, in-office-first startup environment

Placement within this range depends upon several factors, including the applicant's prior relevant job experience, skill set, and geographic location.

In addition to base pay, BlackLine also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans.

We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring candidates have clear information about compensation expectations. For roles that include variable incentive components such as an Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) or On-Target Earnings (OTE), the compensation structure may follow a split model - for example, a 50/50, 70/30, or 60/40 ratio between base salary and variable incentive.
