We have an exciting opportunity for anIntegration Developer to join our Customer360 Integration team and drive the delivery of complex, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.
At BNZ, we're transforming how we serve our customers through modern, connected technology that makes banking simpler, faster, and more reliable. As part of the Customer360 programme, our Integrations connect a front end with core systems, data platforms, banker and customer channels across the bank.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in either Wellington or Auckland, with a hybrid working approach of three days in the office and two days working flexibly.

What are the key responsibilities for this role?
- Deliver Outcomes - Design, develop, configure, and enhance Integrationssolutions that deliver business outcomes while maintaining enterprise standards for quality, security, and performance.
- Technical Problem Solving - Investigate complex business and technical challenges, define solutions, and contribute to system design decisions that balance business and technical objectives.
- Delivery & Continuous Improvement - Work within agile delivery teams to build and release new features, improve existing capabilities, and drive ongoing platform optimisation.
- Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing - Partner with business and technology stakeholders across the programme by contributing to technical discussions. Actively share knowledge with the wider engineering community and coach others.
- Production Support & Operational Excellence - Participate in platform support activities, helping diagnose issues, resolve incidents, and improve system reliability and resilience.

You'll play a significant role in one of BNZ's largest technology programmes, helping shape strategy, guide investment decisions and deliver capabilities that support the future of banking.

What skills and experience are we looking for?
- Expertise in designing and developing Java and Spring Boot services, including REST APIs, integration patterns, and secure service-to-service communication.
- Engineering Excellence - Strong software engineering fundamentals, with a focus on quality, maintainability, performance, observability, and security. Ability to contribute to technical design and solution development, including applying secure integration concepts such as authentication methods, certificates, and API protection. Exposure to CI/CD, DevOps, Jenkins, AWS, Kubernetes, and API gateway / API management concepts would be advantageous.
- Collaboration & Communication - Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work collaboratively to develop and deliver pragmatic technical solutions that balance business and platform needs.
