About the Role
Bloomthis is looking for a commercially minded and hands-on Supply Chain Manager to lead the end-to-end flow of materials across our business.
This is a critical management role responsible for ensuring that the right products arrive at the right place, at the right time, at the right quality and at the right cost.
You will oversee a team and take ownership across sourcing and purchasing, international supplier development, cross-border logistics, supply planning, inventory and distribution, as well as warehouse processes and standards.
This is not a desk-based procurement role. We are looking for someone who is comfortable moving between commercial negotiations, data analysis, supplier conversations, warehouse operations and urgent problem-solving.
What You Will Own
1. Sourcing & Procurement
- Lead sourcing and purchasing activities for flowers, plants, packaging, gifting materials and other direct materials.
- Develop and expand our local and international supplier network.
- Identify, evaluate, negotiate and onboard suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost, lead time and scalability.
- Build alternative and back-up sources for critical materials to reduce supply risk.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, MOQs, lead times and commercial terms.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve material costs without compromising product quality or customer experience.
- Maintain proper purchasing controls, supplier records, quotations and sourcing documentation.
2. International Supply Chain & Cross-Border Logistics
- Manage the end-to-end movement of goods from overseas suppliers to our operations in Malaysia.
- Coordinate suppliers, consolidation partners, freight forwarders, customs agents and local logistics providers.
- Determine the most commercially effective shipping method across air, land and sea freight, balancing cost, urgency, lead time and inventory requirements.
- Understand and monitor total landed cost including freight, duties, handling and related import costs.
- Troubleshoot shipment delays, customs issues, documentation discrepancies and other cross-border operational problems.
- Travel overseas regularly for supplier visits, sourcing activities, negotiations and supply-chain development.
3. Supply Planning & Distribution
- Translate sales demand, seasonal campaigns and business plans into purchasing and replenishment requirements.
- Ensure sufficient stock availability while avoiding unnecessary overstock and wastage.
- Plan the distribution of inventory between our central warehouse, fulfilment hubs and retail locations across Malaysia.
- Establish appropriate stock levels, reorder points and replenishment cycles for key inventory categories.
- Work closely with Product, Retail, Operations, Finance and Commercial teams to anticipate upcoming demand.
- Strengthen planning for peak seasons, campaigns and new product launches.
4. Inventory & Warehouse Management
- Own inventory accuracy and establish strong controls between physical inventory and system records.
- Lead regular stock counts and ensure discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly.
- Establish clear warehouse processes covering receiving, inspection, storage, picking, issuing, transfers and stock adjustments.
- Maintain high standards of warehouse organisation, cleanliness, safety and hygiene.
- Ensure appropriate storage conditions for flowers and other temperature-sensitive or perishable materials.
- Monitor inventory ageing, wastage, shrinkage and obsolete stock.
- Continuously improve warehouse layout and processes to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
5. Cost & Performance Management
- Take ownership of key supply-chain cost drivers including material cost, freight, packaging, inventory loss and wastage.
- Analyse purchasing and logistics data to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities.
- Develop dashboards and regular reporting for key supply-chain KPIs.
- Track supplier performance across cost, quality, lead time, fulfilment and reliability.
- Make shipping, purchasing and inventory decisions based on data and total business impact rather than purchase price alone.
- Work closely with Finance to ensure supply-chain costs are accurately captured and understood.
6. Systems & Process Improvement
- Drive greater discipline, visibility and automation across procurement, inventory and warehouse operations.
- Play a key role in the implementation and continuous improvement of our Warehouse Management System (WMS) together with the Technology team.
- Ensure purchasing, inventory movements and warehouse activities are accurately reflected in our ERP and related systems.
- Develop SOPs and controls that allow the supply-chain operation to scale effectively.
- Continuously identify bottlenecks, root causes and opportunities for process improvement.
7. Team Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop a supply-chain team.
- Establish clear responsibilities, KPIs and accountability within the team.
- Build a team culture that values accuracy, urgency, ownership and continuous improvement.
- Be willing to step into operational issues personally when required rather than only delegating problems.
- Collaborate effectively across departments to resolve issues quickly and protect business continuity.
What Success Looks Like
You will be successful in this role when:
- Material and logistics costs are consistently well-managed and improving.
- Bloomthis has strong, reliable and diversified supplier relationships.
- Critical materials have dependable alternative suppliers and reduced supply risk.
- Inventory records closely reflect actual physical stock.
- Stock is available where it is needed without excessive inventory or unnecessary wastage.
- The warehouse is organised, clean, disciplined and ready for scale.
- Perishable materials are stored and handled correctly to protect quality.
- Management has clear visibility of supply-chain costs and performance.
- Supply disruptions are identified early and resolved with urgency.
- Systems and processes increasingly replace manual work and individual dependency.
Requirements
- At least 5-8 years of relevant experience in supply chain, sourcing, procurement, logistics or inventory management, with experience managing a team.
- Strong experience in international sourcing and dealing directly with overseas suppliers is highly preferred.
- Able and willing to undertake frequent overseas business travel.
- Strong Mandarin/Chinese proficiency is required for supplier communication and negotiations. Good command of English is also required.
- Strong understanding of procurement, international freight, import/export processes, inventory planning and warehouse operations.
- Experience managing multiple suppliers, SKUs and inventory locations.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills with an understanding of landed cost and margin impact.
- Comfortable working with numbers and analysing purchasing, inventory and logistics data.
- Experience with ERP, inventory systems or Warehouse Management Systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions quickly when operational issues arise.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Able to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Degree or professional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Operations or a related discipline is preferred.
The Person We Are Looking For
You are likely to thrive in this role if you:
- Naturally ask, “Can we source this better?”
- Negotiate hard but build long-term supplier relationships.
- Understand that the cheapest purchase price is not necessarily the lowest total cost.
- Enjoy going into the warehouse and understanding what is actually happening on the ground.
- Are comfortable working with both spreadsheets and suppliers.
- Notice inventory discrepancies and want to know why they happened.
- Anticipate supply problems before they become emergencies.
- Stay calm and resourceful when shipments are delayed or supply plans suddenly change.
- Take ownership of problems until they are resolved.
Supply chain is at the heart of Bloomthis' ability to deliver beautiful products reliably to our customers. If you enjoy building a supply chain that is commercially sharp, operationally disciplined and built to scale, we would love to meet you.
