Blue Ops is an American defense technology company specializing in the design and manufacturing of advanced uncrewed surface vessels for military and maritime security operations. Headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, the company develops modular, autonomous marine platforms to support persistent intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. By leveraging open systems architecture and domestic production partnerships, it provides scalable, adaptable solutions for modern defense forces.

Position Summary

Blue Ops designs, builds, and fields autonomous unmanned surface vessels (USVs) for

defense and national security customers. We are seeking a hands-on Systems Support &

Integration Engineer to support the integration, troubleshooting, testing, and fielding of

complex unmanned vessel systems.

This role is well suited for an engineer with a computer engineering, electrical engineering, IT,

robotics, or related technical background who enjoys diagnosing problems across software,

networks, electronics, sensors, and physical hardware. The successful candidate will work

directly with onboard compute, communications equipment, cameras, radar, GNSS, autopilot

hardware, vessel networks, power systems, and other integrated electronics.

The focus of this position is system diagnosis and troubleshooting. This engineer is expected

to approach problems methodically, determine whether a failure originates in software,

configuration, networking, power, wiring, hardware, or an interface between systems, and

drive the issue through verification and resolution.

This is a hands-on role. The engineer should be equally comfortable working from a Linux

terminal, checking device connectivity, reviewing logs, and validating configurations as they

are using a multimeter, inspecting wiring, replacing hardware, or working aboard a vessel

during integration and test.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve faults across USV onboard systems, including compute, sensors,

communications, cameras, radar, GNSS, autopilot hardware, vessel networks, and

supporting electronics.

  • Perform structured troubleshooting of hardware, software, configuration, networking,

power, wiring, sensor, and system-integration issues.

  • Determine root cause rather than relying solely on component swapping or temporary

workarounds.

  • Support vessel system checkout before testing, demonstrations, deliveries, and

customer events.

  • Verify that onboard systems are communicating, configured correctly, and operating as

expected prior to deployment.

Ft. Pierce, FL (On-site / In person)

  • Review system logs, service status, device health, and other diagnostic information to

isolate failures.

  • Troubleshoot Linux-based onboard computers and embedded systems using tools such

as SSH, command-line utilities, logs, and system services.

  • Perform basic network troubleshooting involving IP addressing, Ethernet connectivity,

static IPs, DHCP, switches, and device-to-device communications.

  • Perform low-voltage DC electrical troubleshooting using a multimeter, including

verification of power, continuity, grounding, fuses, relays, connectors, and wiring.

  • Identify recurring system issues and work with engineering teams to develop durable

corrective actions.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-4 years of experience in systems support, integration, field engineering, test

engineering, robotics, embedded systems, IT/OT, or a related technical role.

  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, networking, power,

wiring, and configuration.

  • Working familiarity with Linux, SSH, command-line tools, logs, and basic system

configuration.

  • Basic networking knowledge including IP addressing, Ethernet, DHCP, and static IP

configuration.

  • Ability to use a multimeter and troubleshoot basic low-voltage DC electrical systems.
  • Comfortable physically working on electronics and equipment aboard small vessels.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, network diagrams, technical manuals, and interface

documentation.

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems

Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, IT, or similar.

  • Experience with USVs, UAS, UGVs, robotics, marine electronics, defense, aerospace,

automotive, or other complex integrated systems.

  • Experience with NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi, or other embedded Linux systems.
  • Familiarity with radar, cameras, GNSS/INS, Starlink, RF communications, CAN,

NMEA 2000, or serial interfaces.

  • Experience with ArduPilot, ArduRover, PX4, MAVLink, or Pixhawk.
  • Experience with Wireshark or similar troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with field testing, demonstrations, commissioning, or deployed systems.

Travel & Working Conditions

  • Up to 50% travel, including customer sites, test ranges, partner locations, and potential

OCONUS travel.

  • Early starts, extended days, and occasional weekend work may be required around test

events.

  • Must be comfortable working aboard vessels, outdoors, dockside, and in shop/test

environments.

  • Must be able to kneel, crouch, climb, access installed equipment, and lift

approximately 25 lbs.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

This role combines office and laboratory work with hands-on vessel integration and outdoor testing.

  • Ability to manually lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to crawl, kneel, crouch, bend, climb, and work in confined or awkward spaces while installing, inspecting, and servicing equipment on and around vessels.
  • Ability to safely board and move around boats, docks, and uneven or wet surfaces.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in marine environments, including dockside activities and on-water testing.
  • Occasional travel and schedule flexibility may be required to support trials and demonstrations.
