Blue United Sourcing is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) to join a comprehensive outpatient cancer center in Valdosta, Georgia. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity to join a collaborative multidisciplinary radiation oncology team utilizing advanced treatment planning and radiation therapy technology.

The Medical Dosimetrist works closely with Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, Radiation Therapists, and other members of the oncology team to develop safe, accurate, and clinically appropriate radiation treatment plans. This position requires a strong understanding of radiation oncology treatment equipment, medical physics, dose distribution, and dose calculations.

The ideal candidate will bring current CMD certification, strong treatment planning expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively throughout the treatment planning and delivery process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design individualized radiation treatment plans using computerized and manual planning techniques in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription.
  • Generate radiation dose distributions and dose calculations in collaboration with the Medical Physicist and Radiation Oncologist.
  • Develop treatment plans for modalities including 3D, IMRT, and SBRT, while considering dose-limiting structures and prescribed treatment parameters.
  • Provide physics and technical support for image fusion.
  • Assist the Medical Physicist with intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy procedures.
  • Serve as a technical resource for Radiation Therapists during treatment-plan implementation, including immobilization devices, field arrangements, imaging, and other treatment variables.
  • Communicate technical treatment-planning information to Radiation Oncologists for plan approval and Radiation Therapists for implementation.
  • Verify the mathematical accuracy of treatment calculations using systems established by the Medical Physicist.
  • Document and import pertinent treatment information into the patient's electronic health record.
  • Complete chart audits, required documentation, monitoring forms, and charge information accurately and timely.
  • Archive and restore treatment plans as needed.
  • Support radiation protection, quality assurance, and quality control activities in collaboration with Medical Physics.
  • Participate in chart rounds, departmental QA responsibilities, and continuous process improvement.
  • Maintain knowledge of current treatment-planning techniques and advancements in medical dosimetry.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) certification through the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) required
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Current healthcare provider CPR certification
  • 2+ years of proficiency with IMRT treatment planning strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of radiation oncology treatment equipment and medical physics
  • Ability to develop computerized treatment plans and effectively communicate technical aspects to Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and Radiation Therapists
  • Working knowledge of radiation safety and applicable State of Georgia radiation oncology rules and regulations
  • Strong mathematical skills, including algebra, trigonometry, and introductory calculus
  • Ability to visualize anatomical structures and treatment geometry in three dimensions
  • Knowledge of adult and geriatric patient care
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary radiation oncology team
