Boom Supersonic is building Overture, the world's fastest airliner — designed and committed to industry-leading standards of speed, safety, and sustainability.

Boom Supersonic is building the Overture supersonic airliner and the Superpower gas turbine - machines that require some of the most demanding manufacturing in modern industry.

That only works if the hardware meets design intent. Right now, we have the inspection capability to check parts. What we don't have is the system that makes inspection credible, repeatable, and scalable. That's what this role exists to build.

Forged titanium blisks with unforgiving tolerances. Inertia-welded drive shafts. Single crystal turbine blades. At Boom, you will own the hardest manufacturing problems - on day one of your career.

We hire a small number of extraordinary engineers who are ready for a much bigger challenge than most companies would give them. Many places expect you to spend years supporting work that someone else owns before you get near anything real. At Boom, entry-level Manufacturing Engineers are handed real scope from day one - a section of the engine assembly, a machining process, a tooling problem that doesn't have a solution yet - and held accountable for the outcome.

We are developing Superpower - a natural gas turbine for next-generation AI data centers - faster than anyone has built turbomachinery before. The manufacturing problems we're solving don't have playbooks. You will write them.

This job isn't for everyone. You're the right person if:

  • You've done something extraordinary early - built real hardware independently, led a competition team that actually competed, or done work in an internship that most engineers don't see for years
  • You love building and want to work long, smart, and hard to create things that have real impact
  • You want ownership, not guidance
  • You get more energized when a problem gets harder, not less
  • You're uncomfortable waiting for someone else to find the answer
  • The shop floor sounds more interesting to you than a conference room

What you'll do:

  • Own a defined piece of the manufacturing operation - engine assembly, machining, tooling, or process development - with real accountability for the outcome
  • Work directly with machinists, technicians, manufacturing engineers, and build engineers to solve problems on the floor, not from behind a desk
  • Build and improve the processes, work instructions, and tooling that allow complex hardware to come together reliably
  • Partner with design engineering to make parts easier to build
  • Iterate fast - figure out what's wrong, fix it, and move on to the next problem

You probably have:

  • A degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering - or equivalent hands-on experience
  • At least one internship or co-op where you made something real
  • Hands-on manufacturing experience - time in a shop, on a line, or building hardware. This is required, not a nice-to-have
  • Genuine curiosity about how things are made and how to best design for performance and manufacturability
  • A track record of finishing hard things, inside school and outside of it

You will thrive here if:

  • You want ownership, not guidance
  • You get more energized when a problem gets harder, not less
  • You're comfortable not knowing the answer yet - and uncomfortable waiting for someone else to find it
  • The shop floor sounds more interesting to you than a conference room

The ramp here is steep and the expectations are high from day one. Engineers who want a structured development program and a clearly defined lane should look elsewhere. Engineers who want to spend their first year doing work that actually matters - and being held to it - should apply.
