What you'll be doing

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape how security shows up in everyday decision-making across Boots. Based on-site at our Nottingham Support Office, you’ll lead the security awareness and education programme for The Boots Group, helping colleagues work safely and confidently while reducing human cyber risk.

Reporting to the Boots Business Information Security Officer, you’ll turn security priorities into engaging campaigns, training and behavioural change initiatives that reach across a large, complex organisation. You’ll work closely with teams including IT, Internal Communications, HR, Learning & Development, Privacy, Compliance and Data Governance, using insight and measurable outcomes to keep the programme relevant, effective and trusted.

If you’re at your best when translating complex topics into clear action, influencing across functions and building programmes that drive real behaviour change, this role offers the scope to make a visible difference in a well-known organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver the information security awareness and education strategy across The Boots Group.
  • Lead awareness campaigns, training programmes and behavioural change initiatives aligned to business priorities and current threats.
  • Promote understanding of cybersecurity and acceptable use requirements across the organisation.
  • Manage phishing simulation activities and use the results to identify trends, insights and improvement opportunities.
  • Measure programme effectiveness through reporting, metrics and data-driven recommendations.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Information Security, IT, Internal Communications, HR, Learning & Development, Privacy, Compliance and Data Governance.
  • Provide expert guidance on security awareness, human risk and security culture topics.
  • Manage and develop a Security Awareness & Training Analyst, supporting capability growth and high-quality delivery.
  • Continuously improve awareness content, communications and training to meet audience needs and emerging risks.
  • Manage relationships with external awareness and training providers, while ensuring activity supports legal, policy and audit requirements.

What you'll need to have (our must-haves):

  • Experience developing and delivering engaging communications, training or awareness campaigns.
  • Good understanding of cybersecurity risks and information security principles.
  • The ability to explain security and technical topics in a clear, practical and engaging way.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a large, complex or regulated organisation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to work across different levels of the business.
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers, awareness platforms or training providers.
  • Experience using data and metrics to assess programme performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing colleagues.

It would be great if you also have:

  • A professional security qualification such as CompTIA Security+, SSAP or ISC2 CC.
  • Experience with phishing simulation platforms and security awareness tools.
  • Knowledge of learning and development, organisational change or behavioural science principles.
  • Experience developing role-based security education programmes.
  • Experience developing security culture measurement or maturity programmes.

At Boots, this role gives you the chance to build visible impact in a business where your work can influence thousands of everyday decisions. You’ll have the opportunity to shape programme strategy, strengthen organisational security culture and grow your leadership capability while working across a wide stakeholder network. For someone who is curious, collaborative and motivated by meaningful progress, it’s a strong platform for broader leadership opportunities in information security, risk, culture or enterprise change.

You’ll also be part of a business that believes in helping people grow their brilliance further - with the trust, support and cross-functional exposure to keep developing your expertise.
