Bosch is a German engineering and technology group founded in Stuttgart in 1886 by Robert Bosch as a workshop for precision mechanics and electrical engineering. It is the largest automotive supplier in the world, making braking, steering, powertrain, sensor and driver assistance systems for nearly every carmaker, and it also produces power tools, home appliances through BSH, industrial drives through Rexroth, and building security and heating systems. Around ninety per cent of the company is owned by a charitable foundation, an ownership structure that gives it unusual freedom to invest across long research cycles including semiconductors and hydrogen.

Do you want beneficial technologies being shaped by your ideas? Whether in the areas of mobility solutions, consumer goods, industrial technology or energy and building technology - with us, you will have the chance to improve quality of life all across the globe. Welcome to Bosch.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced VAVE Purchasing Engineer to lead value analysis and value engineering activities for HVAC products. The role focuses on driving technical cost-down projects, achieving target cost reductions without compromising quality or performance, and collaborating with Commercial purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to optimize BOMs, components, and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage technical cost-down (VAVE) projects across the HVAC product lifecycle (from cradle to grave); deliver defined cost savings and performance targets.
  • Conduct value analysis and function-oriented cost modeling (BOM rationalization, part substitution, design-to-cost, target costing, TCO assessment) with Design/Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Develop, track, and report project plans, milestones, savings realization, and risks; maintain accurate project data in systems.
  • Drive supplier engagement for VAVE activities: select, qualify, and collaborate with suppliers to achieve cost reductions, participate in negotiations, and manage supplier development plans.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops (Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing) to optimize components, assemblies, and processes; apply DFMEA/DFX and design-for-cost methodologies.
  • Support NPI and change-management processes (ECNs/PCNs) to implement cost-down concepts with minimal risk to quality and delivery.
  • Support to build and maintain cost models, cost breakdown structures, and target costs; perform priced-for-function analyses and trade-off studies.
  • Ensure alignment with procurement policies, governance, and compliance; monitor supplier risk and sustainability considerations.
  • Prepare and present status updates, savings reports, and KPI dashboards for stakeholders and leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Thermal, Electrical, or related discipline) or equivalent technical background.
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years in VAVE purchasing and project purchasing, with a proven track record of delivering cost-down projects. HVAC industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cost-down projects simultaneously, from concept through realization.
  • Strong understanding of BOM structures, ECN/PCN processes, change management, and supplier development.

Skills, Competencies & Personal Attributes:

  • Technical reading: ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T; familiarity with HVAC components and related manufacturing processes.
  • Project leadership: planning, organizing, prioritizing, and delivering results; ability to influence cross-functionally without direct authority.
  • Communication and collaboration: excellent written and verbal communication; stakeholder management and workshop facilitation.
  • Supplier management: supplier selection, development, qualification, negotiations, and performance tracking.
  • Change management: ECN/PCN processes and risk mitigation in design/process changes.
  • Market intelligence: staying current with HVAC technology and supplier capabilities; applying insights to strategy.
  • Personal attributes: results-oriented, problem solver, detail-oriented, adaptable, resilient, ethical, and customer-focused.
  • Cross-cultural and global mindset: effective in a matrix, multi-cultural organization.
  • Travel readiness: occasional domestic and international travel as required.

Languages:

  • English: business fluent (written and spoken) required
  • Additional languages (Japanese or German): advantageous

Certificationsas Bonus Points:

The following certifications will be considered as bonus points. Candidates who hold these or equivalent credentials may be prioritized for interviews:

  • CPSM - Certified Professional in Supply Management (ISM)
  • CSCP - Certified Supply Chain Professional (APICS)
  • PMP - Project Management Professional (PMI)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (CSSGB/CSSBB) or Lean Six Sigma credentials
  • Lean/Six Sigma certifications (any level)

Travel:

  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required to engage with suppliers and support global programs.

What We Offer:

  • A challenging, rewarding role in a multinational company with a strong market reputation in the HVAC industry.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Career development opportunities, exposure to global projects, and a collaborative, high-performance work environment.

How to Apply: If you are a results-driven VAVE purchasing professional with a passion for optimizing cost and performance in HVAC, we invite you to apply. Please include your resume and a brief summary of relevant cost-down projects you have led.
