Start: Late September / early October 2026

Duration: 14 weeks

Capacity: Full-time

Location: Predominantly remote - candidates based in the EU, UK will be considered

Travel: Potentially up to two one-week trips to the US during the engagement

We are looking for a senior technical PLM expert to support a strategic, early-stage assessment for a global organisation operating in the consumer products sector.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the client’s future PLM landscape. You will assess the current solution and its limitations, evaluate potential platform options and define a practical target-state vision covering processes, technology, product data, integrations and the future operating model.

The organisation’s existing PLM solution is approaching the end of its lifecycle, making a move to a future platform necessary. There is currently no preferred replacement, so the successful consultant will need broad and objective knowledge of the PLM vendor landscape, including the relative strengths, limitations and suitability of different solutions.

Your responsibilities

  • Assess the client’s current PLM capabilities across processes, technology, data and operating model.

  • Identify key pain points, technical limitations, risks and opportunities for improvement.

  • Facilitate fact-finding sessions and workshops with business and technology stakeholders.

  • Evaluate potential PLM platforms and assess their suitability for the organisation.

  • Develop a structured, scorecard-based PLM platform assessment framework.

  • Define the proposed target PLM solution and integration architecture.

  • Create a reference product data model for the future solution.

  • Define detailed functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Develop a prioritised roadmap and high-level implementation plan.

  • Ensure that the proposed architecture is scalable and able to support potential future changes to the organisation and its technology landscape.

  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to senior client stakeholders.

What we are looking for

  • Strong technical experience with PLM solutions and architecture.

  • Proven experience assessing existing PLM landscapes and defining target-state solutions.

  • Broad understanding of the PLM vendor market, with the ability to evaluate platforms independently and objectively.

  • Experience designing PLM integration architecture and product data models.

  • Practical experience defining functional and non-functional requirements for PLM platforms.

  • Experience developing platform assessment frameworks, technology roadmaps and high-level implementation plans.

  • Strong workshop facilitation, stakeholder engagement and consulting skills.

  • Ability to translate complex business, product and technical requirements into a clear and pragmatic architectural vision.

  • Experience within consumer products, process manufacturing, life sciences or pharmaceuticals would be highly advantageous.

  • Experience with PLM solutions designed for process manufacturing would be particularly valuable.

Working arrangements

The engagement must be delivered full-time within the 14-week project timeline.

Most of the work will be performed remotely and will involve analysis of existing documentation, solution materials, processes and data. Some flexibility will be required for selected workshops and fact-finding sessions involving US-based stakeholders. Regular US working hours are not expected, although occasional later meetings may be necessary. The consultant must also be able to travel to the US for up to one week at a time if requested by the client. Travel may not be required, but up to two trips could take place during the engagement.

A follow-on phase is anticipated and may create an opportunity for further involvement. However, any extension will depend on the outcome of the assessment and the appointment of the delivery partner.
