Broadridge is hiring! We’re seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering will provide strategic, technical, architectural, and people leadership for Advisor Solutions Products. This role is responsible for defining and delivering modern architectural solutions; guiding the development, modernization, reliability, and evolution of digital platforms; and ensuring technology investments align with business priorities.

The successful candidate is a hands-on technology leader with deep expertise across the full Software Development lifecycle with hands-on experience in Java, Python, JS Libraries and Databases. The individual will lead multiple squads, partner with Product and business stakeholders, mentor technical talent, and drive responsible adoption of artificial intelligence, including agentic AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor software development teams, including technical leads, senior engineers, software engineers, and early-career talent.
• Define and execute the technology vision, engineering strategy, architecture roadmap, and operating model for Advisor Solutions Products.
• Design, evaluate, and implement scalable architectural integration solutions, APIs, integrations, data platforms, cloud services, and user-facing experiences.
• Provide technical leadership throughout all phases of Software Development, including discovery, requirements analysis, solution architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement.
• Drive the delivery of secure, resilient, scalable, high-performance applications and services that meet business, operational, and customer needs.
• Establish and enforce architectural standards for Java, Python, front-end technologies, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, observability, security, and integration patterns.
• Champion modern software engineering practices, including domain-driven design, microservices, event-driven architecture, API-first development, reusable components, automated testing, code quality controls, and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Lead the evaluation and adoption of AI-enabled solutions, including generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, AI coding assistants, and agentic AI implementations that improve customer outcomes and engineering productivity.
• Ensure AI solutions incorporate appropriate security, privacy, governance, reliability, monitoring, transparency, and human oversight.
• Partner with Product Management, SREs, DevOps, Security, Architecture, Data, Client Success, and business stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and deliver measurable value.
• Manage technology planning, capacity, resource allocation, delivery dependencies, technical risks, and engagement of external teams where appropriate.
• Strengthen Agile delivery practices, including planning, estimation, backlog refinement, release readiness, retrospectives, and transparent reporting of delivery status and risks.
• Ensure production excellence through appropriate support coverage, incident management, root-cause analysis, service-level objectives, resiliency planning, and remediation of recurring issues.
• Ensure adherence to secure development principles, change and incident management procedures, vulnerability remediation, audit requirements, risk controls, and applicable compliance obligations.
• Develop a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, provide constructive feedback, support career development, and mentor technical leaders and team members.
• Maintain robust architecture documentation, solution designs, development standards, runbooks, and knowledge-transfer practices to support sustainable delivery and onboarding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including substantial experience leading multiple technical teams and complex technology initiatives.
• Demonstrated success defining architectural solutions and delivering enterprise-scale software platforms from concept through production operation.
• Deep technical proficiency in Java and modern Java frameworks, including Spring Boot, as well as Python and modern Python web frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
• Strong experience with modern front-end technologies, including Angular and/or React, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, responsive design, and accessible user-interface development.
• Expert understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, design patterns, distributed systems, microservices, RESTful APIs, API versioning, OpenAPI or Swagger, OAuth2, JWT, and secure integration practices.
• Experience designing and delivering cloud-native architectural solutions, preferably using AWS, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS or EKS, serverless services, containerization, cloud security, and scalable deployment patterns.
• Strong experience with relational and non-relational data technologies, including PostgreSQL; data modeling; SQL; performance optimization; and database reliability.
• Experience with asynchronous processing, task queues, messaging, or streaming technologies such as Celery, SQS, Kafka, or equivalent platforms.
• Proven expertise in modern DevOps and SDLC practices, including Git-based source control, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins and/or GitLab CI/CD, Docker, automated testing, code scanning, observability, and release automation.
• Strong practical experience with AI and machine-learning-enabled solutions, including AI-assisted development, retrieval-augmented generation, large language model integration, and agentic AI implementation.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging technologies, develop adoption strategies, and translate technical capabilities into measurable business value.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain technical strategy, solution architecture, delivery tradeoffs, and operational risks to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, problem-solving, organizational, and stakeholder-management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading modernization initiatives involving legacy transformation, cloud migration, API enablement, platform engineering, and architectural simplification.
• Experience with content-management systems, digital communications, marketing technology, financial services, transaction processing, billing, payments, or subscription-based platforms.
• Experience with Wagtail or comparable content-management frameworks.
• Experience leading distributed, onshore, offshore, internal, and external technical delivery teams.
• Experience defining engineering metrics and using them to improve quality, reliability, delivery predictability, developer productivity, and customer outcomes.

Compensation Range: The salary range for this position is between $150,000 - $190,000 USD. Broadridge considers various factors when evaluating a candidate's final salary including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education.
