Bruker microCT, based in Kontich, Belgium, as part of Bruker Belgium is a global technology leader in advanced X-ray micro-computed tomography (microCT) solutions for life science, materials research, and industrial inspection. Our systems enable scientists, engineers, and innovators worldwide to visualize and analyze internal structures with exceptional precision - driving breakthroughs in research, quality assurance, and product development.
Our multidisciplinary R&D organization in Kontich develops the next generation of microCT platforms, combining cutting-edge imaging science with advanced software, electronics, mechanics, and system engineering. From concept to commercialization, our teams are responsible for imaging technologies, system architecture, prototype verification, software and hardware integration, and the successful transfer of innovations into production and service.
To strengthen our imaging expertise and support the development of future product generations, we are looking for a Lead Imaging Engineer (m/f/d).
Responsibilities

n this highly visible technical leadership role, you will drive the evolution of imaging performance across our microCT portfolio. You will work at the intersection of imaging science, detector technology, calibration methodologies, software development, and system design, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams across R&D, product management, applications, operations, and service.
You will play a key role in defining, evaluating, and optimizing image quality for both current and next-generation platforms, including strategic development programs such as Hercules, Poseidon, and future successor systems. Your expertise will help translate emerging imaging technologies into robust, high-performance products that set new standards in the market.

- Drive development of imaging methods, algorithms and workflows for future products.
- Establish and execute imaging test methods, protocols, metrics and calibration procedures.
- Drive image quality improvement initiatives and root-cause investigations.
- Define, review and maintain imaging-related product requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Support defining imaging technology roadmaps and technical priorities.
- Own imaging-related system architecture and technical trade-off decisions.
- Support component selection and qualification of detectors, cameras and imaging subsystems.
- Coordinate and execute verification, validation and performance characterization activities.
- Prototype evaluation and technology feasibility studies.
Qualifications
- Diplom/ Master's degree in Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Imaging Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- PhD considered a strong advantage.
- 6+ years experience in scientific instrumentation, X-ray imaging or related field
- Experience leading technical projects and multidisciplinary teams
- Expert knowledge of imaging systems and image quality metrics.
- Detector, sensor and camera technologies
- Experimental design and root cause analysis.
- Statistical data analysis and imaging performance evaluation.
- Calibration methods and measurement uncertainty concepts.
- System integration and verification methodologies.
- Product development processes and design reviews.
- Requirements engineering and technical specifications.
- Experience in regulated product-development environments.
- Scientific software and data analysis tools (Python/Matlab equivalent).
- Knowledge of general software design/documentation processes
