Technical Product Manager

We're growing quickly and are looking for a Technical Product Managerto help turn product opportunities into clear, detailed, implementation-ready requirements. You'll collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, QA, Customer Success, Sales, Marketing, and customers to ensure every feature is well researched, clearly defined, and ready for development.

Buildern is also investing heavily in AI. AI is becoming an integral part of both our platform and the way we build products. We use AI extensively across product management, engineering, QA, and customer success to improve quality, speed, and innovation.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, conducting research, thinking through edge cases, organizing information, leveraging AI to improve productivity, and working closely with engineering to build exceptional products.

What You'll Do

Understand Customer Needs

• Partner with Customer Success, Support, Sales, and customers to understand customer pain points, workflows, and product opportunities.
• Conduct customer interviews and gather feedback to validate requirements and proposed solutions.
• Analyze customer feedback, product usage, support trends, and market research to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Stay informed about competitor products, emerging technologies, AI trends, and industry developments.

Define Product Requirements

• Gather product requirements from stakeholders across the company.
• Research customer problems, existing workflows, and business needs before proposing solutions.
• Transform product opportunities into detailed, well-structured product requirements.
• Write clear user stories, business rules, workflows, acceptance criteria, and edge cases.
• Create wireframes, process flows, and supporting documentation where appropriate.
• Ensure every feature is thoroughly researched, clearly defined, and implementation-ready before engineering begins development.

Partner with Engineering

• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, and QA throughout the development process.
• Clarify requirements and answer product questions during implementation.
• Review completed work to ensure it meets product requirements and quality expectations.
• Identify risks, dependencies, and edge cases before development begins.

Improve Product Delivery

• Continuously improve how product requirements are documented and communicated.
• Maintain a well-organized and prioritized product backlog.
• Ensure features move smoothly from discovery through development and release.
• Leverage AI tools to improve research, documentation, requirement writing, and day-to-day productivity.
• Support release planning and collaborate with Customer Success and Marketing to prepare product launches.

Build Product Knowledge

• Develop a deep understanding of Buildern's platform, customers, and construction workflows.
• Become a trusted product expert for engineering and other internal teams.
• Continuously identify opportunities to simplify workflows, improve customer experience, and leverage AI where it creates customer value.

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years of experience in Product Management, Technical Product Management, Product Ownership, Business Analysis, or a similar product role within a B2B SaaS company.
• Proven ability to write detailed product requirements, functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to break down complex business problems into clear, actionable product requirements.
• A data-driven mindset with experience using customer feedback, product analytics, and business metrics to make informed product decisions.
• Strong understanding of financial workflows and business processes. Experience with accounting, ERP, budgeting, invoicing, financial management, or similar business software is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, structured, and implementation-ready documentation.
• Experience working closely with engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify edge cases before development begins.
• Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Cursor, or similar to improve productivity and product development workflows.
• Curiosity, ownership, and a desire to continuously learn.
• Experience using Jira, Confluence, Figma, or similar collaboration tools.

Nice to Have

• Experience building products for the construction industry.
• Experience conducting usability testing and customer research.
