Save time, lower costs, and boost safety at your school district with our modern school bus transportation management platform.

BusPlanner is looking for a Texas-based Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our fast-growing Sales team and help accelerate our expansion across Texas, one of our fastest-growing and most exciting markets in the United States.

This is not a typical SDR role. You'll be on the ground floor of our growth in Texas, working closely with our regional Account Executive to generate pipeline, build relationships with school districts, and turn opportunities into closed deals.

We're looking for someone who wants to do more than make calls and book meetings. You'll be the face of BusPlanner on the ground in Texas, attending regional industry meetings, traveling to conferences and trade shows, meeting prospective customers in person, and helping establish our presence across the state.

Your mandate is to identify and qualify opportunities, build relationships with transportation directors and other school district decision-makers, and work alongside our Texas sales team to move deals forward.

This is an opportunity for someone who is hungry, entrepreneurial, and eager to take ownership early in their career. With Texas emerging as a key growth market for BusPlanner, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our expansion.

This is a remote role based in Texas, with regular in-state travel expected for customer meetings, regional events, conferences, and trade shows.

Why BusPlanner?

BusPlanner is a leading North American tech company that provides all-in-one transportation management software to K-12 school districts. Across our customer base, we enable hundreds of transportation directors to save thousands of dollars every year by running all facets of their operations entirely through our intuitive, and easy-to-use platform.

BusPlanner’s product suite is embedded across the majority of school districts in Canada and is currently making significant inroads in the US market, having won contracts with some of the largest school districts in the country including Miami-Dade (Florida), Prince George's (Maryland), Guilford (North Carolina), as well as many others. BusPlanner has a history of serving the education market and is favorably positioned to further penetrate the US market in the coming years.

BusPlanner’s leadership team consists of seasoned entrepreneurs who have significant experience in building and growing multiple successful software businesses including: (i) FieldEdge, a leading provider of software for the field services market which the team grew more than 5x and sold to a mega-cap private equity fund, and (ii) AutoLeap, a leader in the auto repair software market that has raised more than $50 million from some of the most reputable VC firms in Silicon Valley.

Requirements

As a successful SDR, you will:

  • Drive pipeline growth across Texas: Generate new business opportunities through cold calling, email, LinkedIn outreach, in-person meetings, and creative prospecting strategies.
  • Partner closely with our Texas Account Executive: Work hand-in-hand with our regional sales rep to identify high-value school districts, build relationships, advance opportunities, and help close deals.
  • Be the face of BusPlanner in Texas: Attend regional transportation meetings, industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events to build our brand and generate new business.
  • Build relationships with school district leaders: Engage transportation directors and key decision-makers across Texas, understand their operational challenges, and introduce them to BusPlanner.
  • Own prospecting and lead qualification: Identify, engage, and qualify prospective customers, ensuring strong follow-through and effective coordination with the sales team.
  • Help execute our Texas growth strategy: Collaborate with Sales leadership on territory planning, account prioritization, outbound campaigns, and creative ways to expand our presence in one of our fastest-growing markets.
  • Take ownership and experiment: Test new messaging, prospecting strategies, and outreach approaches to continuously improve conversion and pipeline generation.
  • Grow quickly: Strong performers will have the opportunity to advance into an Account Executive role within 6-9 months, with hands-on mentorship and support from our Sales leadership team.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Texas-based and willing to travel: You must be based in Texas and excited to travel regularly across the state to attend industry events, regional meetings, trade shows, and customer visits.
  • Extreme drive and grit: You love sales, enjoy prospecting, and are motivated by creating opportunities and winning new business.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills: You're confident meeting new people, building rapport, and representing BusPlanner professionally in person and over the phone.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: You're comfortable taking initiative, working independently, and helping build our presence in a rapidly growing market.
  • Excellent communication skills: You can capture attention, ask thoughtful questions, uncover customer pain points, and clearly articulate the value of our software.
  • Strong organization and tech-savviness: You can manage multiple prospects, stay on top of follow-ups, and use CRM and sales automation tools effectively.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn: You're eager to understand the K-12 transportation industry, our customers, and how BusPlanner solves real operational challenges.
  • Coachability and teamwork: You actively seek feedback, improve quickly, and enjoy working closely with an experienced Account Executive to achieve shared goals.
  • Resilience and accountability: You handle rejection well, maintain a positive attitude, and take ownership of your results.
