Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Architect, build, and scale backend systems to support AI-driven financial workflows.
• Design APIs and data pipelines that meet enterprise-grade standards for performance, security, and reliability.
• Lead infrastructure decisions across data modelling, scaling, auth, deployments, and observability.
• Collaborate with AI and product teams to ship features that are robust, fast, and easy to maintain.
• Contribute to a strong engineering culture by upholding clean design, code quality, and knowledge sharing.
• Stay up to date with backend, cloud, and security best practices as we grow.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of backend development experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and modern frameworks (e. g., NestJS).
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
• Experience with Redis, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Strong grasp of relational and NoSQL databases, especially PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Familiarity with authentication and authorisation systems (JWT, OAuth2 SSO).
• Hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployments.
• Solid testing discipline (e. g., Jest, SuperTest) and version control practices (Git).
• Strong communication skills and a bias toward ownership and clarity.

Preferred:

• Proven ability to build products from scratch (0 to 1 experience).
• Familiarity with AI application development in production.
• Prior exposure to Azure, AWS, or GCP in production.
• Understanding of performance and cost tradeoffs in distributed systems.
• Interest in or experience with LLMs and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.
