Capco is a management and technology consultancy founded in 1998 that works exclusively for the financial services industry, covering banking, capital markets, wealth management, insurance and payments. Unlike the broad generalist consultancies it deliberately stays within one sector, which is how it competes for regulatory, risk and core banking transformation work against much larger firms. Headquartered in London with delivery centres across Europe, North America and Asia and a large engineering presence in Poland, the firm has been owned by the French IT services group Wipro since 2021.

Principal Consultant - Non-Financial Risk (Enterprise Risk)

Lead enterprise-wide risk transformation and shape the future of non-financial risk

The Role

Capco is seeking experienced Principal Consultants with deep expertise in Non-Financial Risk to join our growing Finance, Risk, Regulatory & Financial Crime (FRRF) capability. In this senior role, you'll lead complex client engagements, advise senior stakeholders, and play a key role in shaping and delivering enterprise and operational risk transformation initiatives. Acting as a trusted advisor, you'll contribute to capability growth, proposition development, and team leadership while leveraging approved AI tools and AI-enabled ways of working to enhance analysis, improve delivery, and strengthen decision-making through responsible AI practices and appropriate human oversight.

What You'll Do

  • Lead enterprise and operational risk transformation programmes, helping clients strengthen governance, operating models, controls, and risk frameworks while identifying opportunities to leverage AI-enabled workflows and automation.
  • Oversee trade surveillance and market abuse initiatives, optimising detection scenarios, controls, and monitoring capabilities using data-driven insights and responsible AI techniques where appropriate.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on regulatory expectations and translate complex requirements into practical, strategic solutions that improve enterprise risk management and operational resilience.
  • Apply and oversee AI-enabled analytics and model tuning techniques to enhance risk monitoring, alert calibration, and false positive reduction while ensuring appropriate governance, validation, and human oversight.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders while contributing to business development, proposition development, capability growth, and thought leadership across the Non-Financial Risk practice.

What We're Looking For

  • Extensive experience delivering enterprise or operational risk transformation within financial services or management consulting.
  • Strong knowledge of market abuse regulation, trade surveillance frameworks, operational risk, and wider financial crime risk management.
  • Experience working with AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics within risk or surveillance environments, including model optimisation and responsible AI practices.
  • Proven ability to lead complex transformation programmes and influence senior stakeholders across business, technology, compliance, and risk functions.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex risk challenges into practical, business-focused solutions.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience leading surveillance transformation, control optimisation, or enterprise risk enhancement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with surveillance platforms such as NICE Actimize, Nasdaq SMARTS, or similar technologies.
  • Proven track record in business development, proposition development, and converting client opportunities into successful engagements.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing high-performing consulting teams.
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory environments.

Why Join Capco

  • Deliver high-impact transformation programmes for Tier 1 financial institutions.
  • Work in a collaborative, flat, and entrepreneurial consulting culture.
