Capgemini is a French information technology services and consulting group founded in Grenoble in 1967 by Serge Kampf, and one of the largest IT service providers in the world. It designs, builds and runs systems for large enterprises and governments across some fifty countries, with a delivery workforce concentrated in India and a European client base heavier than most of its competitors. The group is organised into Capgemini Invent for strategy and design, Capgemini Engineering for research and development services acquired with Altran, and Sogeti for local technology services, and it has reoriented its portfolio around cloud migration, data platforms and generative AI.

Your Role

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support the delivery of complex, high-reliability electronic products within the space, aerospace or defence sector.

Working as the key Manufacturing Engineering interface within a Product Line or Integrated Project Team, you will ensure that product designs are aligned with manufacturing capabilities, processes and facilities to achieve quality, cost and schedule objectives.

You will play a key role in New Product Introduction (NPI), Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), manufacturing process development and continuous improvement, working collaboratively with design, production and programme teams to resolve technical challenges and improve manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

- New Product Introduction: Lead Manufacturing Engineering activities throughout NPI, ensuring manufacturing processes, facilities and technical deliverables are developed and implemented to meet programme, cost, quality and schedule requirements.

- Manufacturing Engineering Delivery: Produce and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, production routings, cost models and technical proposals, in accordance with business processes and standards.

- Manufacturing Capability & Problem Solving: Identify and resolve manufacturing capability, facility and process limitations. Provide technical support for non-conformances, investigation and review boards, and structured problem-solving activities.

- Design for Manufacture & Assembly: Champion DfMA principles, promoting standardised and qualified manufacturing processes and ensuring product designs are compatible with manufacturing capabilities.

- Risk Management & Continuous Improvement: Identify manufacturing and operational risks, develop appropriate mitigations, and deliver continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing capability, efficiency and competitiveness.

- Programme & Business Alignment: Work across multidisciplinary and matrix teams to implement Product Line manufacturing strategies, manage technical and programme priorities, and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and statutory requirements.

Your Profile

- Engineering Experience: Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent professional experience, with at least five years' engineering experience in the space, aerospace or military electronics sector.

- Electronics Manufacturing: Experience and working knowledge of high-reliability electronics manufacturing, including surface-mount technology (SMT) assembly and radio-frequency (RF) products.

- NPI & Product Lifecycle: Understanding of the product lifecycle from design through to production, including formal engineering reviews, programme control, risk management and cost control.

- Manufacturing Processes & Systems: General awareness of manufacturing systems and tools, such as CAD/CAM, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), SAP and technical publications.

- Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement: Demonstrable ability to investigate manufacturing issues, implement effective solutions and drive improvements in processes, capability and operational performance.

- Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams and matrix organisations, influencing stakeholders at all levels and taking ownership of deliverables.
