Manager, Data Analysis - People Strategy & Analytics

People Strategy & Analytics brings data, analytics, and insights to shape critical talent decisions and strategy at Capital One. We work closely with HR partners and senior executives in shaping talent policy, automating real-time data, and improving talent decision-making. The team is composed of people with diverse skills and backgrounds including: data analysts, data scientists, business analysts, project managers, and Industrial Organizational Psychologists.

As a Manager Data Analyst, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to solve open-ended, complex questions about how we should attract, develop, and retain top talent. You will team up with world-class professionals and senior leadership and work on impactful projects. Your day-to-day might involve:

• Refining and evolving people analytics frameworks and data standards to ensure our analytics, metrics, and insights are accurate, compliant, and scalable
• Planning and executing high-priority data projects, managing end-to-end deliverables
• Researching, identifying, and prototyping next-generation AI and automation tools to keep our data and analytics infrastructure at the cutting edge
• Developing analyses and tools to help Capital One recruit, retain, and develop the best talent
• Designing new frameworks for evaluating the success of workforce programs

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Strategic problem solving: Identify high impact opportunities to transform the associate experience, conduct analysis, and improve HR tools and processes
• Data strategy: Establish direction for structure and use of new data assets, creating data features and self-service tools
• Design: Develop AI solutions and data products to automate insights
• Rapid prototyping: Partner with clients to design innovative, AI-first data solutions and tools for workforce priorities
• Insights & analysis: Analyze internal and external workforce data and extract insights to help our clients make data-driven, informed decisions

• Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills, including visualization skills (i.e., able to “tell the story” and highlight key insights in a clear and concise manner that is easily understood by stakeholders)

Basic Qualifications:

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related quantitative field) plus at least 6 years of experience performing data analytics, or
  • Master’s Degree plus at least 4 years of experience performing data analytics with an expectation that required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date.
• At least 4 years of experience performing professional data analysis work
• At least 4 years of experience performing programming

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics discipline
• At least 7 years of professional data analysis work experience
• At least 4 years of experience with Python, R, Spark or SQL
• At least 1 year of experience in people management
• At least 1 years of project management experience
• At least 1 year of experience in Tableau
• Proficient utilizing and developing within AWS service
• At least 2 years of experience building dashboards and self-service data tools for business stakeholders

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $164,800 - $188,100 for Data Analysis ManagerRichmond, VA: $149,800 - $171,000 for Data Analysis Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
