Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech) comprises many of Capital One’s most important enterprise platforms. We play an essential role in establishing practices for building technology solutions across the company, while also delivering capabilities that exemplify those practices.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop iOS client code solutions that deliver on Product Strategy and adhere to established engineering best practices, design guidelines and principles
- Partner with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high performing quality customer experiences that are engaging, purposeful and powerful in their simplicity
- Actively participate in all team Agile ceremonies, contributing to ensure that all team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality
- Be an active advocate of the mobile platform through both internal and external developer communities
- Remain an active learner in all technologies related to mobile development (Swift, Kotlin, 3rd party libraries, etc.)
- Influence and contribute to group discussions and incorporate feedback/communication from the broader team
- Mentor junior to mid-level members of the team
- Actively engage with developers outside of the local sprint team across various disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.)
- Own and lead delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and Architects
- Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across sprint teams
- Identify technical obstacles early and work closely with the team to find creative solutions
- Review pull requests and ensure adherence to Swift and other language idioms
- Grow and provide SME level leadership while leading technical development for a mobile development team
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
- At least 6 years of professional experience in software engineering, mobile architectural design and project execution across multiple teams (internship experience does not apply)
- At least 6 years of experience building native mobile applications for Android or iOS
- At least 3 years of experience architecting or leading the development of federated native mobile applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Significant experience building native mobile applications for iOS
- Proven experience with modern native UI frameworks (e.g., SwiftUI)
- Proven experience with designing and building automated testing suites for mobile (e.g., Swift Testing)
- Proven experience with modular architecture and modern state management patterns
- Proven experience with performance tuning and optimization on native mobile platforms
- Experience providing technical leadership for a large product area, influencing its technical vision and roadmap
- Experience leading the design of multi-team components or contributing to shared SDKs
- Experience developing and scaling client Backend-for-Frontends (BFFs) and defining efficient data-fetching strategies using protocols like gRPC/Protobuf
- Working knowledge of on-device ML frameworks (e.g., CoreML, TensorFlow Lite)
- Expertise in release health indicators, metrics-driven staged rollout, and feature flag strategies
- Expertise with agentic AI coding tools and developer productivity patterns

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $229,900 - $262,400 for Mobile Engineer 5New York, NY: $250,800 - $286,200 for Mobile Engineer 5Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
