FRONTEND ENGINEER - CONTRACT BASIS

The Frontend Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining intuitive, responsive and high-performing user interfaces for Instacart's digital platforms.The successful candidate must have hands-on experience with React and TypeScript and will translate product requirements and design concepts into accessible, user-friendly applications. Working closely with backend engineers, product managers, UX/UI designers and other stakeholders, the Frontend Engineer will contribute to building scalable, reliable and engaging digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain responsive, high-quality user interfaces using React and TypeScript.
• Translate UX/UI designs, wireframes and product requirements into functional frontend solutions.
• Build reusable components and maintainable frontend architecture.
• Develop and integrate frontend applications with backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Write clean, efficient, type-safe and maintainable TypeScript code.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• A degree, diploma or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining modern web applications.
• Strong, hands-on proficiency in React and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of JavaScript (ES6+) and type-safe application development.
• Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3 and responsive web design.
• Experience building reusable React components and managing component state.
• Experience integrating frontend applications with RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Understanding of component-based architecture and modern frontend design patterns.
• Experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
• Knowledge of frontend testing methodologies and automated testing tools.
• Understanding of web performance optimisation, browser compatibility and accessibility standards.
